  • Trail Work Weekend: DOUBLEHEAD SKI TRAIL (July 29 and 30)

Part deux of GBA's trail weekend summer work series goes to Doublehead Ski Trail in Jackson, NH on July 29 and 30th! This is an exciting project as we'll be starting from scratch by glading the bottom .5 miles of the trail to re-route the ski trail into the new parking lot that will be constructed by the WMNF before next ski season!

Our goal is 50 people for each day!

As the new trail adopter GBA has our work cut out for us and we need your help! Not only will we be cutting the bottom half-mile, but as anyone who has skied this trail knows, we have water erosion issues to contend with and overreaching sidelines that need to be cut back. We'll tackle those issues to make it more skiable and enjoyable!

Where: Jackson, NH (near Black Mtn - we'll carpool to Ski Trail)

    When: July 29 and 30th

    What: we'll be trimming

What's Provided: We'll have some food and drink but still bring your own. We'll have tooling and other equipment to facilitate the process but bring your own if you have it.

After-Party. We'll host an after-party To Be Announced! Hopefully some fun giveaways!

We'll also potentially have lodging/camping options and may have access to the Doublehead cabin.

We'll have tooling, some hard hats and coffee! Come ready to have some fun!

    Quarry Dogs unite!

After a hugely successful Sherbie GranJam we move on to Doublehead GranJam in Jackson where we plan another intensive weekend of historic ski trail trimming!

On July 29th/30th, we are planning for a trail re-route to a new (yet to be cut) parking lot to hold 15-20 cars. This work that is already approved by the USFS/WMNF and will consist of one-half mile in length. We will also have other trail maintenance trimming and water bar attention. The trail will be cut in traditional style (not gladed) and will improve the skiability of the trail so you can cruise right to your car.

We have another after-party lined up Saturday night at Black Mountain (NH) and this time (to continue our tradition of partnership) we will join forces with White Mountain NEMBA club (local mountain bike group) to have a good ole swashbucklin' time! We have a local band JUNCO that will rock the deck and a few more perks in store that we are currently working on to make your experience that much better. We want you to come out, so we will make the weekend as friendly as possible!

So save the date! Doublehead is NEXT!

A "back country" group rerouting a trail to a parking area? I think there is an oxymoron somewhere in there.
We'll have tooling, some hard hats and coffee!
One thing I'm sure of... there will be plenty of Tools there.

Even you T4T country clubbers would enjoy a GBA GranJam! Might loosen you up a bit, too! Besides, it'll be a jorts party and we know you've got a few pairs of those from back when they were popular in the 80's. Probably sitting right next to that Huey Lewis album and how to grow a mullet instructional. See if they still fit!

if we are now bashing WMNF volunteer programs to maintain the public trail system, something that benefits all of us, think for a minute. Doesn't make much sense and reflects poorly on you above all else.

You both rock, but come on fellas.

GBA partnering with Amazon. Hmmm great. Support local shopping boyz. Supporting online shopping only reflects poorly on you.

So it's true, we are having a BEST JORTS IN THE NORTH COUNTRY CONTEST! Should be fun - sweet prize package for male and female (and possibly an emerging KID category - event is family friendly). Time is from 6-10 pm at Bloack Mtn (NH) after the work day. Free for volunteers / $10 for non-volunteers. All jort'ers are automatically entered into the contest. Check out the poster for more!
