Near record daily high temps last weekend have put a dent in the snowcover, but it keeps accumulating!

The Obs report this morning of 13.7” Total Snowfall So Far This Month is only one tenth inch shy of the October monthly average snowfall of 13.8".

http://www.mountwashington.org/weather/today.html

The "24 Hour Statistics" & "Almanac Data" of the 6AM report are for observations over the previous 24 hours ending at 1:45AM EDT.

Today's hourly reports have listed snow for 8 of the hours since 2AM, so by now the OBS should have measured at least one tenth inch snowfall, and more.

Tomorrow morning’s report should show an already above-average October snowfall, with twelve days left in the month!

Hopefully this above-average October snowfall is the beginning of a trend!

However, we were well below normal in September (only a Trace of the average 2.4" snowfall).

With a little luck, we’ll have made up the September deficit by October 31, and be on our way to an above-average seasonal snowfall, as well!

The Obs 1970-2000 Mean :snowflakes: = 254", Max :snowflakes: = 566.4" ('68-'69)

If we start a T4T '03-'04 snowfall pool, I'd pick a number between 254 and 566...

Thanks for the info, LftGly. This early season snow does seem like a good sign for the upcoming winter. Pray for this pattern keep up, and maybe this year will be a repeat of '68-'69!

Yes! First snow of the season fell at my house Saturday afternoon. Only a trace, but it was still on the car this morning. Hiking on Cannon today, there was a good half inch. We could have taken a run, if we had a good pair of grass skis.

MT W OBS reported 1.6" fell last 24 hours, so we're up to 15.3" for the month, already an above average October. Another 0.9" before Halloween, and we'll be up to the average seasonal snowfall.

I woke up to 3.25" of snow on my deck at 7:30 AM and it's still snowing! Just think how much there must be at higher elevations.

Mt. W. Obs. is only reporting 0.5", but that's as of 2AM; and that 16.2" bring us up to the seasonal average, making up the deficit from September's lack of snow. We're on our way to an above average year!

I'm trying to figure out how I can get in a run on my way to work...

I ended up with 5" at the house, at 1400'

The OBS reports 8.8" in the 24 hrs ending 2AM:

Average Monthly Snowfall: 13.8"
Total Snowfall So Far This Month: 25"

The maximum ever received in October was 39.8" in 2000.
