I am a newbie.......
I have heard that you shouldn't wear your ski boots hiking to Hojos.....
I am planning on skinning up the Sherburne Trail and then hiking the rest in my tele boots (very comfy boots)..........is this a mistake?
I hike in the summer in trail runners...........should I use those?
I am going with friends who have done Tucks before (they are alpine skiers so won't be wearing their bondage boots until they boot up)..........
Thanks

hey,
no problem wearing any type of boots on tucks trail to hojos. i much prefer skinning up the tucks trail to hojos verses the sherbie cuz it's more in the shade, is much smoother, no moguls, and has amore consistent pitch, steadier climb and more rhythmic. hiking in trail runners in the current heat wave will get yer feet pretty wet.
have fun

I'd second that - plan on skinning up the TR trail, which also means you'll get to be with your alpine friends. BTW, this advice won't hold much longer (melt off) so go NOW. Enjoy!

It was on Tuesday!!! It's held up quite well, despite the Inferno Weekend!!!
Sherbie is Trashed! I skinned the Sherbie for the first time on Saturday while trying to avoid the crowds. Sherbie is not so great for skiining, no matter what the conditions. However, I did have a great day for going up the Sherbie. However, when I came back down a few days later..it was ugly.
