Hi, I am new to T4T and have never skiied Tuckerman's. I want to do it this season and would really like to join someone who knows the ropes.

Anyone interested please let me know.

Thanks!

The last couple years I've gone around the last weekend in April and it has been fantastic :shorts: and :tshirt: kind of days, ("knock on wood.")
I'll be heading up around that time again this year with a bunch of noobs and vets from Mass, join us if you like; lots of different people, sure to be a good time.

Thanks- I will put the 26th of April down as a mark. Please keep me posted when you firm up the plans so I know a time and meeting place.

cool.
Yeah, I usually just pick that as a target date, because we all know how predictable the weather is up there.
We will be coming up from S. NH Rt. 125, so any where along that route.

If you want to go when LOTS of folks will be there (or, conversely, stay away then): April 19-20 is the Son of Inferno weekend:

May I suggest you get into some sort of training for the ascent? It's 2000' uphill to HoJo's(hermit Lake Shelters) and then an additional 1000+ for the bowl. Train with your pack and weights so you'll breeze right up and do laps. You'll have more stamina and fun as a result.

or you could go REALLY REALLY hungover and out of shape, like some of us have done. Speaking from personal experience of course:D

I plan to be there, maybe hungover but definitively out of shape on the weekend after SOI.
And I'm a first-timer too.

I just changed my plans with the crew to a week earlier to his the SOI... that weekend has always been a great one, in terms of weather/ conditions... why I thought the last weekend is beyong me:rolleyes:
Should be great, ("knock on wood.")

As my old prof, El Jefe, was wont to say, "Poisons in, Poisons out."

I don't think there is any weekend that has always been great in term of weather/conditions... but, if it's good it's as good as any. Just be prepared for that great weekend to turn into a really crappy one fast. If such a travesty should befall your crew, there are other way to entertain yourself... all will not be lost, but still, keep an eye on the weather.

bought a good pack and have started to train this past week. packed on my skis with boots in the bindings and poles all strapped in and walked for anhour. plan to add weight and distance to my regimen.about how long does it take to hike 3000+ up to the bowl? I am told 2.5 hrs of hiking which is what I'll train for.
