I'm driving to Tucks on June 1st from Mass. I'll be coming up 93north. What is the best way to come? Across the Kancamagus or up Rt3? If I go the Kancamagus, is Bear Notch Rd to Bartlett a good short cut?

Thanks for any info!!

came back thru the kanc last weekend. Bear Notch is (was) open. Go for it...

might be quicker to take 495 to 95 to route 16. i tried the kanc coming back from skiing wildcat this past winter (spring skiing, no snow, no traffic) and it took me quite a bit longer going 93. i always go 495/95/16 when going any place on that side of the state. then again, if you drive 80+, maybe 93 might be faster for you.

Route 16 is usually a nightmare. Lots of traffic on the weekends. May be a little better this time of year because it is mud season. My vote is 93 to Kanc to Bear Notch Rd.

regarding route 16 with traffic, everyone seems to say there is a lot of traffic on route 16, but i always go that way almost always on weekends in both summer and winter and i've yet to experience any major traffic.

you do of course have a slight slow down on the conway strip, but it's no worse than the slow down on the kanc at some of it's narrow turns. also, west side road is always an option.

maybe it's just cause i always leave home so early, and driving back home before peak rush time. i am usually driving through conway before 8am coming from MA during hiking or skiing season, and on my way back home before dinner time rush.
