Saving my pennies and getting new skis (still haven't figured out if I'll mount them as teles or fixed heel, probably teles, as my current set-up is older and noodley and it'll probably be cheaper.
Just looking for thoughts.
wood keeps its snap longer, it's renewable and you can make your own if you want*
BD dropped foam for wood when they stopped using the Atomic factory.
Karhu also speaks fluent tele, their woods are grown close to their Chinese factories...
Scotty Bob will make you a pair of woodies in Colorado if you have a grand to spend.
Plastic sidewalls....as with Rossi Sickbirds/ScratchBC...with beefy edges! Yes, yes, YES!
* I have an idea that American Basswood laminated with Lemmon** and an overlay of tapered Hickory would make an awesome tele ski
** as a youngster (between 5th& 6th grades) I made a nice longbow of those materials, 40 lbs, could barely string it.

I'm currently on a Rossi Scratch BCs. My problem is moving back east and getting a job with a salary and benefits, keeps me out of the loop. I used to know pros/cons of just about every ski for every condition. Just looking for the virtual smelly locker room/buddy's couch drinking beer.
As a youngster I also tried making sliding gear. I took an old Nash skateboard (with only one side turned up) removed the trucks, put a glossy finish on it, and tried to make a snowboard. Beacuse only the tail of the skateboard was turned up, I had to spin it around for snow. Think old school Burton Air, that you could never ride fakey. It was good for my backyard, and not much else.

wood core and ABS sidewall = more durable and easier to fix

I don't know about Sam, but I drink beer :D And I can get a bit ripe after a couple of days at the hut
If I could swing the price...Scratch BC/ Sickbirds it would be. Damnedest things I ever tried out. What other ski is stable and quick? Has the beefy edges w/o weighing a ton? Closest things I could find and afford were the Crossbows and they aren't as quick...while they are as fast they won't last as long.

My buddy rides the gotama, and he loves them. tele vs. alpine mount on these? thoughts?
Would love to demo a bunch of boards, where can I look up when/where there is on mountain demos, or is it too late in the season?

From what ive heard they swing both ways mighty fine....but thats YOUR decision and i wont judge you ;)
As per demos, no clue. Might be a bit late.
