Heading up this Weekend, is the rain going to ruin it!!???

I am heading up to Tuckermans for the first time this weekend with a buddy of mine. It looks rain for the whole weekend, do you think I won't be able to ski the ravine because of it?? Well this just totally put a damper on our trip??

Anybody been there in the rain before???

It hope that the rain holds off as I'm shooting to go Sat. Trailheading at about 4:00am or so. Wanted to go the last 2 weekends but family commitments, etc...you know. This is looking good for Sat so NO RAIN!!!!&**^*(^&%^$ HAve fun, be safe, Al

im headed up with a group of about 30 on sat.
the weather report changes daily and even more so in the bowl, so even if it says rain go and you might get lucky. either way it is nice to get outside...see you up there!

It looks like light rain on Sat and wintry mix on Sunday....let's see if I can drag out the old quotation....

Personally, rain alone wouldn't scare me off, but poor visibility would, and the two tend to go together in the mountains, especially when warm (relatively) rain and air hit cold snow. There are no real reference points in the ravine, and it can be real tough (at least for me) to tell where the fog ends and the slope begins. Bad scene when you're standing on some crazy-steep slope....

I try to plan my Tucks trips around the weather, and shoot for (1) unfrozen and (2) visible terrain. Nice in theory.... And of course, not everyone has this kind of flexibility.

HE showed up 2 years ago and made a fool of himself and didnt show up last year....so your guess is as goo as mine, but i dont know if many people will be heading into the bowl on sat if the weather does what it is supposed to do, so who knows.

Yeah I know a couple people from Johnson that worked at smuggs, most graduated a year or so ago and live in jersey...

we are still going up to camp down the road from pinkham tonight, we will make a decision on wether or not to hike when we wake up sat morn.
Mt washinton is a crazt weather place so you never know when it might change.
I am thinking optimistically and hoping it wont be so bad, but i could be greatly dissapointed.

we camp at barnes field, same entrance as the dolly copp campground about 5 miles down the road towards gorham from pinkham.
If you come up feel free to stop by our site...you will know us by the vt plates and well we pack a butt load of people into the site. its a good time, just look for the vt plate CHESTER
