Attention Knuckleheads who like to run up to Ho-Jos 'for the fun of it': My people and I are looking for a few good lads to schlep packs up to the bowl. Willing to pay $1.00+ per pound (one way). Preference given to anyone who can prove that they're living in their car.
This is not a joke.

Come to think of it, I'll drag some of your packs up too, if you transport us up from Philadelphia.
Just send your jet down to pick us up .......we'd be happy to help ... :D

When I finish inventing my electric sled, converted from a self-propelled walk behind lawn mower, I would be more than happy to.
{this is in the works}
{really}
{at least its on the proverbial drawing board}
How much weight are we talking here? If I were going up there anyway I'd do it; bring it on :) I'd probably be schlepping some obnoxiously huge load though.. 95 pounds plus a case of beer?

I'd accept the $1 per pound (is that US or Cdn$?).
Then again thats to cover wear and tear on my bod. Add $40 an hour for my time/experience/guide skills and we have a deal... I've course I'll also be your personal photographer and videographer so I'll expect you to purchase package C or D.
Ok, seriously about the 'car issue'. SkiStooge is the only one on the board that I know or have heard of that is likely to camp out in his car. Look em up!
1999-05-02 On my way back from the bowl, I ran into a group who brought there own grill, I'm talking a regular grill you'd have on your deck, with propane, and two huge coolers. I saw all the stuff on the deck at hojo's and talked to a guy standing with it. He told me he was "Their Cook" and not the only person on the payroll.
Personally, I think $1/pnd is a little low. There had better be some benny's like:"All the beer you can carry" or "Invite to next years trip" and such.

We just had a specialty 'Ravineroom' on wheels built for T4T and Camp ADK for future trips to Tucks and the like. Beats camping out in a car, its basically a bed on wheels. Will be picking it up mid May... more on this in the coming weeks.
Kate (of Ravineroom Furniture fame) thinks we should call it the 'Tucker Me Inn'... hey not bad kate!

Just for reference: Saxman has a mobile home also...yellow 1978 Caddy. Ahh, someday I am going to upgrade to a :cool: full-sized, luxury mobile manor like him. Have fun, be safe. Al

Totally agree. $0.50 is laughable - in Philadelphia he'd need to increase the rate to $1-2/pound, plus add an extra $50 for a base charge, $20 for administrative fees, $25 towards health insurance, plus union dues, "indirect" costs and legal fees. He'd also need to provide a cell phone and a case of Red Bull. ;)

the man has the "+" sign after the $1.00, so that means its negotiable, and i bet if you are the only one who volunteers to do the work you could really drive that price up!!

Hi pjmanchester:
How far is TR from Burlington? It costs over $800/person to fly from Phila to Manchester NH. But, there are inexpensive flights to Burlington. I'm still struggling to find an optimal way to get to TR.

Hey Skimom.
Driving about 5mph over the speed limit the entire way and with no stops it is about 2hr give or take a few min. not a bad trip at all, very scenic as well.
Just cruise across route 2 to gorham and then hit 16 down,
or you can take 302 to north conway and head up 16
either way around the 2 hr mark!

3 hours from Burlington.
How far from BWI (Balt./Wash. International) are you? Because Southwest is a maximum of $150 to Manchester round trip, and can be as little as $78 if you buy early enough.
Check out this site I Fly SWA (http://www.iflyswa.com/)
Philly is like 1.5 hours from BWI? And BWI is a pretty small and easy airport with cheap long term parking.

PJ, I am not a slow driver and it took me well over 2 (nearly 2.5) from Montpelier... Rt 2 to 302 to 16 as far as Jackson
How long does it take you to get to Boston?

Skilas, my friend lives in the sugarbush valley and it takes him 2.5 hours. No 302 though. He just takes rte 2 the whole way to Gorham, then down 16. Try it sometime ;)

Definately not 3 hours from burlington.
I did it last weekend right around 2 hrs.
And the year before and the year before that all the same time.
For me to get to boston it is around 3.5 hrs depending on traffic and whatnot.
ive made it in under 3 before, but that was back in the day when i had a leadfoot!! :D

Well S&%T! I guess we screwed up that drive from Montpelier!!!
3.5 to Boston is about what I do, maybe a little quicker.
(Don't tell the police, but I made it from Boston to Mad River in 2:50 once :rolleyes: )
