are crampons necessary, can you hike the headwall in plain skiboots thanx

The trail to hojo's is normally well packed however crampons are helpful when the trail is hardpacked or icy.
Most people are climbing the ravine with just their ski boots or snowboard boots. Crampons while hiking up the ravine itself would offer an increased sense of security for any potential slip on the way up.

I got em, I pack em, a hundred bucks well spent, Grivels. Nothing like a good purchase. A pair of expandable hiking poles works a treat, as well. /Saxman
