Well, they were telling the truth. MA got all rain. But Cannon got a lot of snow from the storm on Thursday/Friday (12-15”). But they also got a lot of people for Saturday. So, I stuck to my plan of a little BCing. I skinned up from the bottom of Mittersill on my Split. Someone even skinned up ahead of me on Friday to give me a track for about ¾’s of the way up M. Then, I boarded down a bit on the other side (Taft). Then Post-holed back up (My skins froze and I forgot my duct tape!). Then Boarded down to the bottom of M. and walked to the bar just in time to catch the Pats. It was a great day!! It took me longer then I planned. But that was mostly because of the postholing.
Because the cannonball lift was not running in the morning, I only saw 2 other people on the way up. Nice. The only problems were that there was very little base on M and the snow as too deep to posthole in a lot of spots and all the little brushes were a pain on Taft.
I’ll post some photos on Tuesday.

I also got in a Mittersill run Saturday. They did eventually open the Cannonball lift to the top, but everything to the skier's left, including Taft was roped off (draw your own conclusions here). It was a gorgeous sunny warm day with scads of thick snow on M. Forgot entierly to take pix, though I had the camera. Looking forward to seeing yours, 'boarder.

Hey BG -
How's life as a ski instructor at Cannon? Would you recommend it?

Mumster:
Hey BG -
How's life as a ski instructor at Cannon? Would you recommend it? They are all really nice folks at Cannon, but you guys were all on the money when you said an instructor spends too much time teaching and not enough time skiing! I have a scheduled group every Saturday and Sunday morning, and I also need to check in 1:00 and 2:00 to see if they need unscheduled help in the afternoons. I'm with the 8 and under groups who are relatively new skiers, so the terrain is limited. Teaching kids is a lot of fun, but so far I have not gotten to work much on my personal goals of improving my own skiing. *sigh*

BG, here's some nice Cannon picts to get us through to New Years Day:

One run on Mittersill was enough for me (boy, did Tuckerbrook look tempting, though!). Taft Race Course was great - on my way down it, I crossed paths with a couple skinning up - must have been the up-track NJAB found.
Pray for snow - a band of snow is across the green mtns and NEK now, ahead of the front (i.e. JAY & Burke), behind which is a wall of r***. The OBS is forecasting "Cold air behind the front will change the rain to snow across the mountains and Connecticut Valley. Light snow will continue this evening on the western slopes of northern New Hampshire."
Yes, yes, the western Whites may get the best of it again! Amen.

Thanks, Lftgly! Great writeup and photos! Bladeguy found the same stream crossings you did Saturday morning while I was teaching. Actually, I think he hit THREE crossings.
