I'm planning on going up Memorial Day weekend. Should I use Pac boots for the mud and streams or are they too soft for the rocks? Do regular hiking boots get soaked on the the hike up?

By memorial day weekend the trail should be very dry (except for a downpour). Hiking boots are fine. It only gets muddy/slushy while the snow is melting on the trail. By memorial day there is no snow until you get up into the bowl (or close to it).

A pair of the short, waterproof gaiters also make the hike alot easier (no snow in boots = no blisters). Waterproof your boots (I use SnoSeal or NikWax)! - SherpaKroto
