Ok, I'm not a bad skier. I'm not a great skier either. Looking for recommendations on AT skis that are easy to initiate a turn with and have some float for skiing through the trees, not into them. My 190 K2 Super Stinx are great on the resorts, but I have a hard time turning quickly with lumber looming closer.
Suggestions? I'll be going shorter, around 175, which should help. I've heard good things about the Shuksan, but haven't been able to find any on sale.

Keep your eyes on Steep and Cheap. Good idea about going shorter..... I had to do that to negotiate the trees better.... they tend to be a bit tight here in New England.

I'm a little partial to the Rossi line up.
Try a pair of B2's or Powder Birds. They are really easy turning ski. How tall and how much do you weigh. If not excessive of either I'd go with a high 160 or a low 170 for ski length. You won't notice that much of a difference in ski length. Maybe the first run or two but you'll be having to much fun turning so easily it won't bother you for much more than that.

I think that this is excellent TREE ski. 172 length with 80 waist should make tight turns in powder. You can't go wrong.
