Ok, this is not related to Tucks but most people on this site seem to be avid skiers and boarders so I thought I would ask. I am looking to plan a backcountry hut trip either to Colorado or British Columbia and wanted to know if anyone has ever done a trip like this and if you have any recomendations. The skiing ability of the group is advanced but everyone has limited backcountry experience. I definetly want a company that offers a guide.
#2 Is it advisable to try tucks early in the year? Like November, December?
Any Ideas?
Sure - you can do tucks in Nov/Dec... But be ready to perform avalanche testing...
I'd recomend getting a guide for that time of year if you don't quite have the skills yet..
I'm trying to dig up a Hut website someone gave me the other day... I'll post it when I get home...
November is usually ice climbing season...last year was kind of abberant...too much snow too soon...
if there are climbers in the ravine don't slide above them. A simple sluff off your stick(s) could grow into something deadly down lower.
Thanks!

I would consider BC as opposed to Colorado. If your groups backcountry experience is limited, you should think about your guide providing you with your Recreational Avalance Course while in the field. One place that can do a hut to hut for three days, with the course included is in Whistler. You can contact Rob @ the Whistler Alpine Guides Bureau to set you up.
