Just read Goodman's book and i'm sufficiently impressed by the TR's to try to make my first turns there next fall. I want to hike it as part of a weekend of camping this summer. Are there any lean-to's or anything that anyone knows ok in that part of Mass?
Also, what are the chances of getting a T4T group there this year? I saw that it's been proposed before. Count me in, as this is way easier to do in a day from NYC than anything in NH.
How much snow do we even need to get this going, ten inches?

I skiied the T-Bolt this season and loved it. Except for the speeding ticket I got at 615am
I also hiked it in the fall prior to, and didnt notice many large rocks or things that would require a tremendous amount of snow.
I would give it a try with my rock skis with 10" easy.
Although I personally would wait for just a little more before I used my other setup, just because if I screwed them up, I'd have a hard time finding the scratch to get new boards.
I have plans to camp out there this comming season with a few others, I'll post dates when the snow starts to fall.
Camping fairly high up on Sperry Road, in the State reservation. Been there, it rained back then (20 years ago) but we did okay:

I'm not sure how accessible it'll be with the renovations going on now, but there is the old skiing warming hut at the end of the parking lot, which was used as an overflow shelter. My dad and I were "allowed" to sleep there when we got to Bascom too late for dinner and they wouldn't let us use our stove inside the building.
Very cool hut with 4 beds in a star shape and stoves in between. Very roomy and a great view!

Thanks for the links, I think I'm camping there sometime in July, scouting the trail, and doing some covert reservoir swimming. I just wish I had grass skis.

when i was there in march, the average snow depth was probaly 12", but large sections had 2-4", and a few isolated spots had 1" or so, but I skied all the the way to the car from the steps of the memorial tower.
