It was AWESOME!!!
We got there and the line went from 72nd St past Columbus Circle. Waited for 3 hours(4 beers) to get in... Missed the first 3 songs waiting in line...

The concert field was great! Tons of speakers and video screens. Very cool vibe from the crowd.. Great jams..
One special guest - Warren Haines :guitar: - Who happens to be my favorite guitar player right now.. they did great job with Niel Youngs "Cortez the Killer"

Was home by 11:30... I'm hurting today..

Hey I think your math is wrong here DMC, you said:
Waited for 3 hours(4 beers) to get in... But I thought 3 hrs = a 6 pack?

Anyway, cool that Warren came out, he is awesome. Too bad no Trey sightings though...

We listened to the webcast at full volume in the basement most of the night. Whoo hoo! I gotta give AOL big props for that... the quality was excellent. PLUS, we could look up the special guest online right away, and knew the setlist from DaveMatthewsBand.com. That setlist was johnny on the spot with updates during the show too.

I don't think Dave is doing any of his solo stuff while on tour with the band (i.e. Grave Digger, which I also like a lot)

Cortez.... Cortez...

Cortez was the highlight of the night for me (that and Two Step)...
Cortez is hands down one of my favorite Govmt Mule covers and I like to hear DMB do it as well..

All there little kids were like "Who's the guitar player? Lynyrd Skynyrd?"
I told them it was Warren and to enjoy the moment... Because history will record Warren Haines as one of the greatest guitar players ever... It was funny... During Warrens AMAZING solo during Cortez - Everybody stopped talking...

During two step, all I could think of was Mike and Trey doing the Tango.

I am a little upset I missed his last show in Burlington (the one with Karl Denson), but that night I was catching Phish at the Pepsi Center in Denver, so I guess it wasn't that bad. And DMC, you are right, Warren is going down in history. No question. I love when MULE does When Doves Cry>Beautifully Broken. MULE rocks!!!

Carter was amazing... As always...
You could tell he was slightly more pumped than usual... At one point he played a repeating part for about 8 measures where he was doing triplets between the snare and bass drum and going to his cymbals for two hits...
triplet>crash>crash triplet>crash>crash triplet>crash>crash triplet>crash>crash triplet>crash>crash

Just amazing...

Octobe 4th the DVD of the show comes out..

In the meantime... Watch "Under the Table and Drumming" the drum instruction video by Carter... I started watching/learning from it a few weeks ago and it's really affected my drumming... He's got a cool take on drumming...
But he leads with his left hand so it's tough to follow exactly what he's doing...

Hey DMC: Did you catch carter doing a "50 Ways to leave you Lover" tease? I was thinking of some rumors when I heard that.

He actually talks about that on his DVD... And shows how to play it... he said the band was getting on him cause it sounds too much like it.. :)

Says he's a big fan of (god)Steve Gadd(/god) who played that on PS album...
