Sorry guys, not those singles:

It looks like Tuesday, June 5th will be the day the day that the choppers
will be flying out the lift

towers. There has been quite a bit of interest from folks who want o be on
hand. If you would like to see the spectacle we encourage you to watch from
the parking area on top of the practice slope. Route 17 will have traffic
blocked when the towers are placed in the main parking lot.

The helicopter will arrive the afternoon of the 4th and work will begin the
next morning. We expect that all the towers will be removed in one day. They
will be flown to the main parking lot where they will later be loaded onto
trucks. They will be moved over to Maine where they will be sandblasted,
repainted and returned to be re-installed on new tower bases. The
helicopter will be back again two more times; once to pour the new concrete
tower pads and once more when the towers are flown back up.

Just a head's up....


Mad River Today Jun 04, 2007 at 09:00:00

Today's rain has forced the helicopters to wait a day before coming to Mad River Glen. The chopper is now scheduled to be here to remove the Single Chair's towers on Wednesday day June 6, if your in the area it should be a fun show.

I'm still planning on getting up there. Hope to meet a few of you while enjoying some kick-butt aviation!!

They have new pics up on the MRG site showing them flying the towers off the mountain. That must have been a weird / awesome site to see. They have one with them all laying in the parking lot and I have to admit it kinda looks like a graveyard of towers lol I am sure glad there keeping the single chair and they will be back in by fall, MRG wouldn't be the same without it.

after being trucked to Maine for sandblasting, these beauties will get a throrough inspection, repairs as required, get repainted and remounted :)
