Hey all....
Me and the soon to be missus are heading to Vermont for 4 days from the 10th to the 13th(ish) of December. Kinda honeymoon mostly cuz she has a job interview at a spa at stowe. So if the temps get chilly enough will there be some decent riding to be had in VT around then?
And anyone know of cheap yet decent B+B or motel lodging in the Stowe/Burlington areas? I have checked a few out but would love some inseder info if possible.
Thanks much.

Thanks much. You should be able to get some decent snow by then. It depends. Your best bet may end up being the Bush for their snowmaking capacity, but its up to Mom Nature.
I don't think 'affordable' and 'Stowe' can be referred to in the same sentence when talking about lodging. If your going to the Bush, my favorite place is probably The Hyde Away on Route 17, about 45 minutes from Stowe and 5 from the slopes at the Bush. The Garrison, also on 17, is even less expensive but you have to trade the tavern in for a heated pool and no breakfast.
Hyde Away rocks.
We stay at "Miguel's Stowe Away" in stowe. It's a very cheap place, great bar too. I just called and they still rent the rooms. 1-802-253-7574
Very basic. Great mexican food downstairs and super bar with free pool.
Would the "Spa" be the Top notch spa?

Miguel's Rocks! best dang margarita in the whole North East. Never knew they were lodging too. Never had to pay for lodging in Stowe, friends with condo.
We booked our wedding at Top Notch before realizing it was "Antique Car Show" weekend in stowe, and all the hotels were booked. All but miguels, they somehow got over looked and we booked the whole place for most of the wedding party. WE had a blast the night before the wedding. Bartender was kewl too, my best man says:"This guy needs shots!" and the bartender siad, "No he doesn't." Bless that man's heart.
Lots of people stayed at top notch and a couple other places, but we were unable to book a whole block of rooms.
This was 8/8/98 BTW.
It really is just a bed+bar kind aplace. The rooms are old, the decor is mexican. I think there are like 6 or 7 rooms. Maybe less now.

That building was the first Trapp family lodge, so I've heard.

Hey Bannick. I'm going to a race program Dec 8-12 at K-Mart (assuming my knee passes it's test over FemmesCannon weekend).
I'll have a free day on either end (the Sun and Sat) - the hubby is coming up at one end or the other to join me. If you get farther south than Burlington we could meet at a ski area and do a couple of couples runs. :skicool: :skifemcool: :skifemcool: :skicool: Maybe others would join in and we could have a "couples day"? RR and Mrs R (of hot chocolate fame), Mr and Mrs Octo, the BGs, Dave and :chair: , .....the possibilities are endless.
