Wassup everyone?

I just got a quick question, I saw some sit down skiers on the Sherburne Ski trail on Sunday and I was wondering how they would have gotten up there?
Thanks,
-Rich

Interesting sighting. My father is an adapted skier, he had to adapt to skiing with one hand and no eyes. This would obviously be less difficult to get up the mountain than someone with little or no use of their legs. But if I have learned anything from my dad it is not to underestimate ANYONE. Dad will freely admit that he wouldn't make a very good NASCAR driver or a tennis coach... but don't forget that paraplegic that climbed El Capitan last year or the blind man that has summited Everest, Denali, Aconcagua, etc...

My guess is that the people you saw have limited use of their legs, i.e. can put some weight on them but require mechanical support as well... yikes, what a hike!

Hi there, I was up at Tucks on Sunday also with some friends and we spoke to a guy who said he and a few other people actually pushed/pulled those guys up. Cheers for them!!!

I saw the adaptive skiers at the bottom of the tuckerman trail on the way up, and bottom of the sherbourne on my way down.

It looked like they each needed 3 folks to help, two pulling the reins on up and one behind for support.

On the way down, they only really needed help on the bare patches.

Hi everyone, just reading your thoughts about those adaptive skiers taking on Tucks. I just happen to be one of them...thanks for all the support. We met some really great people on the way up....and down. It was the first time we've tried any winter hiking and it seemed to go pretty well. Learned a couple things that we'll do differently next time but all in all it was a fantastic trip. Getting somewhere were my wheelchair would'nt get me was indescribable. We would'nt have made it up without the help of some awesome friends. Going down gravity was are best friend....next year a bit earlier I think...got pretty boney on the way down...nice challenge though. See ya next year....peace.
