What's everybody buying this year? There looks like some great new stuff on the market. I can't wait to see the reviews of the new avy packs.

Probably going to be new step in Crampons for me. I still have new skins from last year that I never got to use. Got them for Christmas and never managed to get out. How sad is that :( We'll I did sneak over to my neighbors yard one snowy night and laid down a couple a tracks down there driveway and backyard.

Congrats on TMC Status....

This is the first year in many that I haven't had to buy new gear. Normally I destroy something every year. This year my skis made it through relatively unscathed. I think I'm going to buy a new patrol pack but that's about it.

What are you looking at for the Patrol Pack. When I was buying last year I looked at quite a few. Ended up going with something a little larger, EMS 3000 TL - they made some nice changes in last years model. I wanted something that would be suitable for an overnight, and didn't find many medium sized packs. Alot of choices in the day pack size though. I really liked the North Face Patrol, and BD had some nice ones.

I'm gonna pick up some 180 Xscreams for the woods. I'm sick of catching the tips of my 210's on the twigs.

I converted over to some Hagan 178's last year and really like them. I mounted them up with Fritche Diamir II's

kfarrer, I was referring to an actual ski patrol pack. Not the patrol pack by TNF. Probably get one of the CSPS offered or recommended packs. They've got a nice one that comes with a shovel, and probes if I remember correctly.

Got your message, and have the mcintyre application on my desk right now! I think I'm gonna take her myself on fridays. Come in early and bring her at lunch. Awsome. Thanks for the tip, never would have thought of that place.

Glad the McIntyre information helped. I think my wife signed our daughter up for the Friday classes as well. I was planning on meeting up with her as I get a kick out of watching kids learn to ski. I'll find out for sure.

McIntyre's just a hill, but they have a great reputation for their instruction.

I got a helmet for the first time. I've tried 'em on each year and hated the feel of it. Finally found one light enough that I thought I'd give it a try: Giro Nine. Thinking maybe I should get one of those doofy helmet covers, like a :chicken: on top. ;)

I need to replace my Never Summer Premier deck...
And my snowboard pants... And my jacket...
Could use a new pair of boots... Maybe a new balacava..

The only thing I've bought recently was the splitboard setup...

MMMmmm... baclava. I HAD to buy one at Mont Ste. Anne last year. 10 seconds down the run my face was turning white from the extreme cold... and that was with no wind! The shops made a fortune on baclava's that day. It was annoying though since I wear glasses/sunglasses. Always fogging up. I had to ski with the nose thing folded up and the mouth down... look stupid no doubt. Was MUCH warmer and comfy in the bar after!

I almost bought a baclava at the mountain once... but they wanted like $30, so I just wore my hat instead of the helmet.

Kfar: Mailed the application for ski school! See you on fridays maybe! I'll bring a flask.

I talked to my wife today and she signed up for Wednesdays.

Damned if I know anything.

Kfar: Oh well. I can't do wednesday's. Suzy (wife) works 2 days a week and kids goto dayswear, and I don't want to be paying for two things at the same time.

On deck for this year: new helmet and pants (retiring the current pair after 14 seasons). Possibly some phat tele skis (Jaks? TM.ex? -- wipes drool...) Whippets.

Mrs. O is the one with the big gear list this year: she needs a tele rig, and some phat AT skis. I could give her my R.ex/Freeride set-up and then put Freerides on my Volkl CMHs (in place of the 9.12s) and just dump having an all-alpine rig entirely. Hmmm.... Cost effective.

She also needs a versatile jacket without much lining that doesn't suck. Ladies, ya got any suggestions?

She also needs a versatile jacket without much lining that doesn't suck. Ladies, ya got any suggestions? Does she want to look good, or feel good? I have a North Face shell thats a few years old that works very well. No lining at all, but I zip one in (found a cheap polar fleece at a yard sale). It has underarm vents and a TON of pockets (to fill with munchies, glove liners, shades, whatever) and comes down just over the :bum: so I don't get soaked through on the chairlift on wet days. Of course, they change their styles every year, but I bet you can find something good. Good luck!
