Is it cool to have a BBQ at the Pinkham Notch Parking area. If not, is there a picnic area close by? Just figure it my be cool after hiking back from Tuckerman
Couple miles north is a campground called "Dolly Copp" on the left. Might be better there.

Thanks for the info, but I'm not looking for a campground, just a place to hangout with friends and have a few burgers and beers. Is this a public area or a private area where we would have to pay for a spot?

Welcome aboard! You have now stepped into the twilight zone!
Now when is the BBQ and do you have extra  ???
There is a Dolly Copp picnic area on rt16 not far North of the Auto Road and well South of the Dolly Copp campground. Fees after Memorial Day. The Dolly Copp campground is still closed, usualy opening After Memorial Day.
Let me answer more constructively. If your BBQ is propane and portable take it to Ravine along with your sliding gear of choice. If each of your buds carries their fair share you can have a fine BBQ...due to the neccessities of Beer you may want to take less brooo than for your typical frat-party. No Fee
There is a major caveat....really important: Everyone in the group will have to "maintain" or the rangers might have to do something. The Rangers are very good people btw, so don't mess up a sweet deal!
Apres ski gatherings in the PNVC parking area are not uncommon, but they hold to the same standard of comportment and discretion or they are over right quick and bad feelings result. Also No Fee!
So it comes down to this....it's a public area where there are laws and regulations that will be enforced if they have to be.
btw, there is the Barnes Field Campground on the same road as the Dolly Copp Campground. Pass the DCC on the left and take the next right for Barnes Field. Discretion advised...draw attention...draw a fine. Campsite Fee
....I think that's it....Unless you guys troop off-trail and can't be heard. Also No Fee!!

Thanks for the info. Don't plan on carrying a grill up, decent sized Weber. Have done some research and found that there are picnic areas in the Valley, so may look into them. Plan on hiking to the Ravine on Saturday, but will be getting up there tomorrow afternoon, so figure I'll get as much info as I can while I"m up there.
