I posted a request here a while back for a guide (for a visit by the Nashua Telegraph newspaper) and got good help, from M@ and others. Even though avalanche worries pushed back the visit so often I lost M@'s guidership (is that a word?), I got enough advice from we were able to go on our own. Here's the resulting article: Hopefully I didn't get too much wrong.

Make sure you watch the video all the way to the end - you'll enjoy it.

Nicely done, in fact you did get it. Kudos!

...the snow covered lense is priceles!

Come on up, make it an annual piece...but show up more often to meet some of the "characters" that call Tuckerman Ravine their home ground.

Bravo! I regret not being able to go... congrats on getting "The Day" and capturing it to share with such a large audience.

Very nice, you captured the essence of the Tux experience.

My only critique would be the "No Picnic" piece where you reference a "safety beeper" for avalanche safety. Actually, what you should bring with you is (1) avalanche training, (2) shovel, (3) probe, and (4) avalanche beacon (it doesn't actually "beep," it sends radio signals out to receiving beacons, which beep when a buried skier's beacon signal is acquired).

But I'm being nitpicky. By and large, it was a very good read, and informative (without being sensational, which is appreciated).

I regret turning down the chance too. Seeing the avalanche board in the video made me kick myself even harder. I enjoyed the article, and vid. Thanks for returning to post it.
It seems like the local media has been giving Tux a lot of press lately. I think its a good thing to keep the tradition and the lore of the place alive. After all where else in the world do people hike for hours to watch a bunch of amatures.

On Race Day Dodges Drop saw a lot of traffic. I saw a likely reporter with a videographer and pointed out the traffic and recommended they shoot some of that. Even though it looked like they were packing up they did shoot some of the choicest descents.

I wonder if that was Dave or another party covering the race.
