Is it possible to hike plus ski tukerman’s ravine within 1 day? What kind of hiking equipment should I bring(crampons?)? I’m planning a trip to the ravine the last weekend of this month, hopefully the conditions hold up:) Thanks for the help.

definetely yes. most people do the day trip. However, you can double the fun and stay at hermit Lake. In late April, you should be fine with hiking boots for the trail up and to Lunch Rocks. There should also be a fair boot ladder up Lip. Personally, I reccomend crampons and an ice axe just to be safe, but most people don't use them. Obviously skis/board, boots, helmet (falling ice late season), appropriate clothing, water, etc. If you go, i'll see you up there.

How’s the hike from pinkham notch to hermit lake? Is it easy to navigate through the trails?

my best time is about 45 mins ;) but that was without skis/boots and a light pack. The Tuckerman Ravine Trail leaves from Pinkham notch to the left of the visitor center as you are walking in. It's quite wide (they drive a snowcat up in the winter) and there will likely be a large number of people hiking up with you, so don't worry about getting lost. actually, there will be a large number of people the entire weekend. trails are quite easy to find and navigate.

Day hike w/ skiing is very do-able, get up early so you can scope it out and you'll have pleanty of time to ski. Last year it was more like April, so I hiked in shorts and sneakers...now I'd use boots if its still snowy on the tuckerman ravine trail.
PS- water pump at Hermit Lake & some supplies for sale. Helmets a must, I dont use an axe, but if it makes you more comfortable go for it:skicool:

verizon is a no. verizon has service middle of sluice, very top of lunch rocks, and just before the LS cutoff on Hillmans.

i've actually recently stopped using an axe, i've become more afraid of decapitating myself on the way down, than falling on the hike up. my $.02
