Making a formal motion that Mumster's image be added to the logo (i.e.caption image (http://timefortuckerman.com/ubb/tftboard2003gangcaption.jpg))

It's real nice to see my own mug up there every twenty seconds when I check this board, but I think we can all agree her's would be a nice addition to the blank area in the upper right.

Any seconds to this motion?

(instert the usual and genuine props to SkiDave for excellent work on the board as always)

I will second it.

So for a computer illiterate type guy like myself (I know how to use a tilty table and parallel rule mind you), how do you post a picture for your profile. I have tried everything I can think of, even kicking the machine but to no avail.

Bannick:
You should just be able to put the URL of the image in the text box location when you edit your profile.

Some hosting services don't allow there content to be contained in another webpage though (i.e. GeoCities).

Post the URL you're trying and I can put the image on my server, and give you a better link that might work. Skidave is pretty good about putting images on the T4T server too, but I think he's camping.

Hey ya alls...

Back from camping in the ADK. No snow darn it!

I'll see about adding skimumsterarama in the top logo... maybe only heavy duty posters will appear.

Actually I thought that the image should rotate... different collages each time to accommodate our many fine members. That way nobody could complain too much about :ma: beard and such and hey... even Elwood would be there!

Bannic if you can't link your photo, email it too me. Ideally all profiles and Avatars should be on the t4t server anyways. I've noticed a few using Avatars that are way too big which get resized and load slow for modem users.

Unfortunately, I was :atwork: all weekend.

Bugs?? What bugs?? Noper no bugers, tad cool/windy at times though.

Fish Creek Pond is a fantastic campground! Over 285 of the 304 sites there are right on the water! Sand beach all around even. True its busy, but fun place. Met lots of other campers with their big RV's and such. Met someone from MRG even. No snow to be found unfortunately. Water was like bathwater!

Few pix for you mumster...

Dave:
Great trip! Right on the water, that's nice. I'll take a little chill and wind over bugs any day. Wind is good for kites and sailing, and you can always put on a layer or two. Bugs iz good for nothing.

Fixed my avatar. It's smaller than yours now. Feel free to grab the image and put it on your site. If I ever want to make it something different I'll be sure to get the 75x75size and keep the compression down.

We're camping next weekend, hope the bugs don't find us either... or the inevetiable poison ivy, sun burn, rain, burns, cuts & scrapes.

Yup :ma: . Almost hard not to get a site on water at Fish Creek Pond. We might be booking the Aug 1 weekend there also. My kites are getting anchient so I didn't bother bringing them... might so be a problem decappitating those water skiers that go by too.

Bannick got your photo, will post it today. The teardrop is manufacturer actually. I don't have time for such projects, and wanted a tear that was well built.

Pepperdawg: Yes we had a nice site.. but certainly not the best one there since there are so many on water. The water was like bath water and the lake had a short sand beach all around so almost all sites had their own beach. There isn't much privacy between sites, but if you don't might that its hard to beat.

Were are you going camping :ma: ?

M@

We're camping on Vaughn's Island in Maine. Just up the coast from the predisdent's house. It's a 95 acre uninhabited tidal island, you walk there at low tide, but at high tide there's a Tide-Depth river cutting it off. So we pick a weekend where the tide is low on a friday night. We've been going once a year for like 7-8 years now.

It's a zero-facilities type camping, but car-type camping as you park about 300 yards from your campsite.

There's room for like 5-6 campsites, and you never know who else is gonna be there. There's one site on the point of the island surrounded by ocean with a light-house view that we try to get but have found it occupied the past 2 years. You get no tree-cover out there so it's a sun-screan-application all day long but worth it.

Lobster bake saturday night. MMMmmm... lobster.

Perfect kite flying location.

Great pix, Dave, and I envy your bugless trip! We just got back from Katahdin and the bugs were relentless above the treeline. I don't even know what they were (small, swarming flying things that were not mosquitos) that attacked us despite out DEET repellant, leaving bites everwhere. Itchy lumps with a red mark in the center. Yuch. The weather was perfect, though.

Did you get that great meal at the Lake Placid Lodge?

-BG

skicdave
07-14-2003, 10:09 AM
Nope bladegirl, didn't dine out at LPL this time... was just too nice at Fish Creek Pond and we blew our budget by buying some tequila.

We did scout out the area a bit including some of the fine resorts around Saranac Lake. Shopped for some items in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid to dress up/personalize our trailer. Best item was a fake bear throw rug for inside the trailer cabin since the trailer attracts a lot of 'look and seers'. Still have to find something 'ski' oriented. Thinking of airbrushing a retro ski theme on the outside aluminum skin .

Thanks for posting my pic dave....the photo is a hommage to Elwood of sorts given his passion (healthy preoccupation with) for the malted nectar and there is snow flying around ( & :snowflakes: two of my favourite things). So has anyone ever brought a keg up into the ravine or is drinking openly in the revine frowned on by ranger types and patrolers? I have this idea for a helium filled keg transporter....patent pending. You could even sled down tucks on it....the other ravine room furniture.

Did anyone notice what type of skis he was using? We could match them to the "favorite skis" topic. The boots look like technicas, but I don't recall a T4T boot topic.

...definitely a male

Hair dark for Castlerock (and the wrong boots), probably too young for RR, too thin for Dr. Piddle or JollyJ.

Great Pics, DMC. OK, you're off the hook since you are a dedicated snowboarder.
Still can't get a clear focus on the skis - in your second photo they almost look like they have racing tips....??volkl slalom - (they look short) with marker bindings?

LOL, what a conversation. It can't be me neither, as I never went to Tucks. (next year for sure). When I saw the pics of last april 19, I wasn't able to believe a skier skied it T2B barenaked with hundreds or thousands of persons in the ravine at the same moment.

I really would like to know his motivations for doing that ! May be a guy that lost a bet. Here, there is 2 radio morningmen that would have been obliged to take a run naked outside the radio station if the Anaheim Mighty Ducks had won the Stanley Cup ! About the sacrifice to the snow gods, it could be another possibility... especially for Tucks.

Answer :

<<I forgot the exact amount.

I recommend you don't do it. I hate to be a buzz-killer, but ya'gotta' look at the "big picture". The reason we don't like to see naked skiing is because: It's on National Forest land - i.e. it's
for the entire pubic - oops - I mean public meaning anyone from 8 to 80, prudes and yahoos. Now picture this, some dad brings his innocent 12 y/o daughter up to experience the Bowl for the first time..... and then some yahoo on boards shows up showing genitals and the full length of butt-crack, scarring her for life, etc, etc.>>

I asked him if it was closer of 50$ or 250$ later ;)

I must admit I agree with his opinion and anyway... imagine falling into the Chute while skiing naked, with some snow that cuts like a knife ! ... may be fatal

They used to do the whole nudist thing at whistler years ago. It wasn't just one or two..they had whole events to the pursuit of "free-skiing" so to speak. Maybe T4T could sponsor a naked day in the ravine. You thought it gets busy on a sunny day, add the promise of nudity and it will be jammed. The same thing happens when they have naked bungy day in Nanaimo BC.

I have ripped my snowboard pants bailing on a hard-pack day. I shudder to think of what else i could rip.
