I realize this is completly off topic, but do any of you live in the new paltz area? whats the rock looking like now? I'm going to be driving to south jersey and back this weekend and was thinking about stopping to climb on the way back. If any one is interested lower elevation rock (the bolton area) in vt seems to be drying out nicely, A crack was totally dry two days ago.

you can always find dry spots in the gunks if you look around a bit. just as long as it hasn't rained heavily in several hours...

Dude just go to Gunks.com - they'll have all the local conditions & whatnot you'll ever need.

I live in Gardiner, it was raining very hard tonight. Most of the snow is gone so dry climbing just depends on having some dry weather. The cliffs were probably dry this morning.

Some friends of mine were doing routes yesterday and said it was pretty dry. I'll get out in the next few days and let you know.

I was planning to ski at Mt.Peter after work yesterday but they closed! I was forced to go climbing, which was not a bad consolation. Most everything is dry and it was definitely shorts weather!

I called Rock & Snow yesterday. They said the snow was all gone and the carriage road was dry. Forecast for the next 4 days looks fantastic. I'll be up there climbing Friday and Saturday.

Was at the Gunks on Friday & Saturday. Couldn't have asked for nicer conditions! Warm, mostly sunny, and autumn dry. Like climbing in October, only without the foliage. There were isolated pockets of snow in shady spots (esp. Sleepy Hollow), but none that posed any problems.
