I snagged an old rental pair of 'blades at jiminy on monday, $50 with minor cosmetic damage only. The shop guy ground the scratches out and waxed 'em and i put 2 new grooves in them on the t'bolt. oh well, they were $50. anyway, now i need a pair of boots, so if anyone has a pair to sell, lemme know what you want for them.
EDIT
Mondo sizing would be a 30, i guess. I have size 12 shoes, US.

My knowledge in this arena: Dont guess mondo 30.
I also wear size 12 street shoes (I almost typed 20...sheesh that would be huge) and my tele boots are a 29.5. While trying on a different boot, I was rockin a 28.5 comfortably, if not an eensy bit tight. And then one time I had a 29.5 from Scarpa (I have Garmont boots) and they were just so gosh-darn narrow that my feet were howling in pain. Make sure you go to a store and try boots on for size first. It doesn't matter if you save yourself 300 bucks over retail, if they don't fit, they won't be fun.

When I say I there, I mean that the ownership was transferred to me. I didn't pay.:D
well, i think he looked at the money that would be saved on rentals and convinced himself that it was ok. i was worried for a while, though. and i have to pay for boots myself. but heck, that's what a job is for.

thanks for the advice, i was only estimating. My feet run really narrow, though. I'm gonna check out the Boston Ski and Skate sale @ the end of the summer. Anyone else know anything about that?

ok...
to direct the thread back to its original direction, has anyone bought from craigslist? are they trustworthy? I found a pair of boots on craigslist that i'm looking at buying. has anyone used Salomon Performa or Head ski boots? I don't know the model on the Heads.

I STRONGLY suggest you go try on some boots at some shops. Know exactly what you want, like, and fits.
THEN go look for boots.

I concur with Affix's recommendation. Shop around and try as many different boots as possible... do your due diligence. It is time well invested in your future fun and you'll be very thankful that you did. Otherwise you're taking an expensive gamble.

i see the wisdom in what everyone is saying. is there really that much difference among brands? i've been comfortable with everything i've worn for the last couple years.
