Just heard on news...... Killington and Pico Peak have just been sold. ASC unloaded Mt Snow and Attitrash last week and currently unloading Steamboat.

Maybe both resorts will be finally connected and the village finally finished??

Not likely - MAJOR enviro probs in developing that drainage have been / will be opposed by the State of VT and every major conservation group in New England. Too bad, as that aspect of Pico is one of the most consistently steep on the entire mountain. But don't wanna displace breeding bruins, disturb that remote section of AT / LT or have negative impact on groundwater.
Just as well anyhow, as Pico sucks thoroughly.

Yeah, that old T-Bar track really bites it and there's nadafriggenthing on sliders right or left...

who is kidding whom? I'll take Pico any day I can..the adaptive skiers program is fabulous...donate often!

PS...leave the bears alone and concentrate on the inbounds terrain that could be gladed...plant some trees on a few of the open slopes to make tree islands...it's a classic, it would be a shame to over-develop it!

Yep - there ain't no thang on or anywhere near that dern ol' track. Def no reason to bother with a slackcountry approach anywhere near or above that area of the mountain either.
As a kid, my buds and I would have frequent mishaps, which (for some strange reason) almost always occurred near the very top of the T-bar and the old Poma when the adjacent trails were closed.:D Dang I'm old.

The hill's just not conducive to it. Move along now.

I heard that ASC is going to connect Killington to Steamboat, by purchasing the entire Mississippi Valley and Midwest......and possibly put in a new gondola in the process.

yes, they're still honoring the AFO pass at all current and former ASC areas for the remainder of the season.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Killington will offer a similar early season discounted season pass option next season. I'll be very bummed if they don't, as sliding will get considerably more expensive than it has been for me these past three seasons.

It makes me sad how wrong you are. Clearly you have never lived in the area. Have fun fighting traffic at Kmart on a powder day. I'll be at Pico enjoying the fresh all day if you need me.

Please don't be sad for me. I averaged around 40 days / year for 20 years on that hill in order to appreciate how much it sucks.

oh fecking please with the fecking "overall resort experience" and real estate valuation talk. Makes me want to vomit. There's been nothing wrong with Killington the mountain as long as I've been sliding there. They make tons of snow, the lifts run fine, and it's crowded enough without bringing more people, more cars, and more houses to the place. Screw these big, "build, build, build" ski monstrosities. When is enough enough? When every fecking tree in view from Killington Peak has been felled? Real Estate Developers surely occupy the lowest ring of Hell.

okay, I'm done. [/rant]

I have more fun making fresh tracks at 2 mph than dodging the human pylons at most ski areas.
