Check out this pic I found on the page for the Maine Telemark Festival (www.netelemark.com/mainefest03.htm):

Is that really Sunday River? 11,000 years ago when the trees hadn't fully recovered from the ice age? Is there a side to the mountains I've been missing?
Or are they just showing us real skiing 50 miles away at the ravine and mountains we know so well?

It's amazing how deceptive the ski resort industry is becoming. I've read alot of threads on varies ski forums recently about this very some topic. There's no way in this case it could be confused with a mistake.
There's just no excuse.

That pic is Washington and the presi's. I believe they put in on there b/c you get that view from the top of two different peaks they have.

They're showing off their chairlift just left of centre.

Another deception that really gets me - when a ski resort claims fresh packed powder or powder, you get there and it's good ole' N.E. hard pack (not that there's anything wrong with that), but dont' LIE about it. That's one (among many) great things about Cannon - they never seem to hide or lie about the real conditions.

It always sucks to arrive at the big board at the highway rest stop/liquor store in NH and see that every resort is reporting "packed powder". If they don't have anything better to say, you can count on hardpack corduroy.

Started a new job this week as PR guy for my local mountain. I'm going to try to do honest reporting...we'll see how it goes.

I second that!
MRG too, always tells it like it is.
I love their reports at the end of the season:
new snow last 24 hrs: yeah right
conditions: slush between the blades of grass

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Anyone how knows me, knows that I'm a tell it like it is type of guy. Should be a fun job. I'll still be patrolling when I can. Gotta sample what I'm promoting.
