I had the privilege of staying up at the Obs overnight in winter a few years ago. A journalist friend was doing an article on the Obs for the Washington Post and asked me along as her "photographer" cough, cough. It was very cool, and I got a lot of amazing shots. It was great fun meeting the crew--they were very friendly and helpful. Those folks work hard!
If you ever have the opportunity to go on an Edu trip--do it. A winter sunrise from the summit is not to be missed! (Of course there is the cheap route of tenting!)
Check this out: Guy I work with (I work with like 6 other people) is the Grandson of the guy who recorded the highest wind EVER (yes, on Mt. Washington)

Someone noticed me reading about Mt. Washington, talked about how he spent a couple weeks interning up there... and Phil (the grandson) overheard us and made his claim of fame.
