I have hiked Tucks for the past three years:
May 12, 2001 (that great year when it just snowed and snowed...)
April 20, 2002
May 4, 2003
And have never been able to ski down. I know this is variable based on conditions, but usually when does the trail close (i.e. how early in the season would I have to do the hike to ski to the bottom, or at least part way down)? :skicool:

Typically open til mid April. I skied down on March 21st this year. There were a few bare spots but I didn't take my skis off at all. The bottom half closed about two weeksa later and the top about a week after that, sometime around the 15th of April I think. To be pretty sure you will ski down go in March

Bring those Bandits to the Ravine in February and March....you can do Summit runs*....4000 footers! Yahooooo! Think pow in Feb, lots of Pow!

*having some avalanche preparedness training and gear as well as reliable companions is the best way to get ready.

I skiied down all the way on April 13th this year, which was the last weekend it was open from top to bottom. A couple sketch parts but if you look to the trees on skiers left, and if you are comfortable in the trees, you didn't have to take your skiis off.

Now there is an area that justifies shorter shaped skis: In the trees. I just don't find my Fischer 198's to be a whole lot of easy in there. Oh, well. Have fun, be safe. Al PS: If anyone wants to GIVE me a pair of parabolics, I would be OK with it. LOL
