I plan to hike up this coming weekend as saxmans mule, carrying his\our food and equip. so he can pack his instrument. Well worth the price on my aching back.... We're hoping to hunker down in one of the lean-to's. Save a spot for the saxman and his mule.

SAXMAN's gonna make it???
Whoo hooo!!!! Best news I've had all week. Of the 8 in my party, we're down to 3 as of this a.m., and I was even contemplating going ALONE (mind you, this trip is before my Tuesday 4/30 ACL reconstructive surgery, so it's a last hurrah of the year... yes, violins please). Great to hear Saxman will be enchanting the area with splendor. Looking forward to it.
Realistically, I am at least driving up from CT alone Thurs. evening, hoping to arrive @ Pinkham about 7-9 ish, should anyone be willing to meet me to hike up with (hate to do it alone with 'bum' knee and all). M@? PScopa? Takers? FWIW, I'll be ready to rage @ Hermit. Feel free to email me off list krasuskyp@firstinterbank.com. Thanks.
What's the deal with the creavases and waterfalls right now? Pics on www.tuckerman.org (http://www.tuckerman.org) from 4/20 look like the place is gushing, and temps this week don't promise to help. Best to leave the boards in the car and just hike up and watch (seeing as I've grown attached to living, etc.)? Thoughts?
SEE YOU THERE!

My good friend and sherpa, north reading Jim, neglected to mention the whole deal: I plan the food, I BUY the food, I COOK the food (usually rather well and tastey if I do say so myself....), and he CARRIES the food. It's all good, a better companion I could not hope for, he's young and strong, I'm older and packing a load, -before I put my pack on..... He makes it possible to hike the brass in, and hopefully it won't be too cold or windy to play. Looking forward to seeing everyone, c'mon up and say hi if you have the energy. If your timing is good, you may even run into a cup of Starbucks with fresh cream and sugar.....:-)Be attentive, watch for ice and crevasses, let's have a safe, fun, outrageous Tuckermans week-end. Remember thumbs up after a tumble, we need to know you're ok. Cheers, /Saxman

Is that wedding still going on in the bowl? That would be a sight. Second of course to a dude playing a saxophone...

This thread is just giving me tingles!
krasuskyp: I'll be arriving at Pinkham about 8-9pm myself. Send me an email at this email address reversed:

Looks like I've got one companion, so waiting a bit wouldn't be so bad. I'm in a green volvo with a "Doh" bumpber sticker.
SaxMan: Whoo Hoo! I'm thinking the lean-to closest to HoJo's might be best, but most years that's the first one to go.

The wedding: They said they had "No Rain Date" so I'm betting they'll be there.

I have been talking with Irene, the gal who is going to get married, off line, and hope to play some appropriate tunes for the event.
M@, lean-to closest to Ho-Jo's smells like a porta potie mixed with recycled human food. I will bring a clothes-pin and come visit if you are there. I am going to try for one of the fresher air versions if possible. I don't remember how they dole them out. I think it is first come first serve, refresh my memory.
Jim and I are driving up Friday a.m. and hiking in Friday during the early afternoon as soon as we get the Lama packed.
See you soon. Two more days. /Saxman

Yes, the wedding is still on. We are a party of 12 - some skiers, some riders, and some just coming for the hike. By the sound of the conditions, we may all just be there for the hike! NO?
Anyway, the ceremony is planned for between 10:30 - 11:00 at the foot of the Ravine (probably pretty close to lunch rocks...) I'm sure you'll see us.

Irene,
Best of luck to you. I sure wish I could make it this weekend.
Missed you in the Gulf last weekend. It was amazing. I'm working a trip report and should have posted by the end of the week.

Ilene,
I am sorry. I thought it was from our previous offline email communication, but then I saw Saxman's post and followed along.
It sucks to be follower instead of the leader.
I hope you have a GREAT day!

SO SORRY ILENE!!!!! You could have told me 7 e-mails ago, before I started leading people astray out here in public, on the message board. Ah-well, alls well that ends well. I'll be looking for the gal with one leg shorter than the other.........;-) /Saxman
Hey krasuskyp:
Didn't get your email. I'm heading up in a few hours, and meeting a couple more folks for the hike. Looks like the weather won't let me convince them to hang out too long. We're planning on hitting the trail at 8pm.
We'll probably have motorola radios on channel 10x10. I'll check my home email and here before I leave my house around 4.

Well, if you get this or your home email, a last minute change (read: dudes I was going with bailed like hosers) forces me to go now tomorrow, be @ Pinkham @ 7 or so. D'oh!
If you get this, please email me directly krasuskyp@firstinterbank.com, thanks. Otherwise, I'll Motorola it 10x10 when we hit the trail, maybe we can meet up for after hours festivities...

You guys are pretty unbeleivable - I enjoy the hell out of the posts even though I'm not a hiker or off lift skiier - maybe someday.I had to respond to the guys that were on their way up tonight as I went into the hot tub about 8:00 PM in Rutland, Ma and came out with 1/2" of snow on my head - I can only imagine what conditions were/are at Tuck's.In fact a buddy called and wanted to know if I put the plow on - NOT . Forecast here is sunny and mid 50s tomorrow so maybe the fun and wedding will transpire without a hitch. Keep up the great posts all and especially the great pictures.
