I've seen some reference to RR being the man. Weather.com is reporting mostly cloudy for Saturday, highs in the 50's in N. Conway, and :raining: on Sunday, with highs only in the 40's. SO, is there any chance that said rain may fall as fluff in the Ravine, where I espect it'll be colder than in N. Conway? yeah, yeah, I know, it's mountain weather (Mt. Washington mountain weather at that), so of course there's a chance! But does anyone - RR? - have a reasonable forecast available. :sunshine:

This weekend will be my first time up to Tuck's. Plan is to climb Hillman's, tag the summit, ski/ride down Hillman's on Saturday, then hang out in the Bowl on Sunday and try some of the lines there. I can't get washed out on Sunday, I just can't!! :justdoit:

weather.com is slightly better than useless for predicting weather on the rockpile. mountwashington.org gives detailed summit forecasts, but only 24 hrs in advance as they can't predict mtn weather with any accuracy beyond that timeframe. NWS forecast discussion sometimes includes info on free air temps at elevation, but don't count on it in advance either b/c in the east, they can't figure it out either.
It'll be close this weekend - hate to be a gloomer though, so I'll just shut up.
One thing's for sure: if you don't go, you'll never know.

Oh, either way, I'm going! If I don't get to climb/ride, then I'll just cozy up to the bar and get ripped. Maybe I should bring my climbing gear, I can always go climb something in the rain . . .

The sun will be out but it may be covered by clouds and or fog. The air might be moving slowly or quickly or somewhere in between. It may snow or some sort of sub standard family member of snow, which may fall from the sky, it may come sideways or from below or it may not.

Seriously the weather changes usually minute by minute. Plan the trip don't cancel until the day of, bring gear for any type of weather. And have fun, it's part of the adventure.

Saturday looks like this (http://www.weatherunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=03589&hourly=1&yday=111&weekday=Saturday) at Weather U.

Sunday looks worse (http://www.weatherunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?hourly=1&query=03589&yday=112&weekday=Sunday) .

I like the spread between the dew point and the temperature in the peaks. Sadly, occasional rain will be the only moisture of note. Due to the cyclic pattern of the system on Saturday there should be some sunny bits, especially higher up and on the south sides*. Sorry, Sunday looks more like generalized drismal conditions....Happily the wind may be of little consequence both days, but one never knows on that score.

Silver lining=soft snow before 11AM both days! Whaddayuh, a skier/rider or a weather pansy???

* Rain may get heavier on the West and North sides Sat. evening and stop for the overnight...as the wind is off the ocean it will be moist air aloft.

Besides RR, T4Ts own weather forcasting system is almost as accurate.

Matt Noyes is about as good as anyone for NE. Check:
http://mattnoyes.blogs.com/

"The cloudy and cool start to Friday will yield sunshine from mid-morning onward, but the new cool airmass will hold temperatures some 20 degrees cooler than Thursday for interior New England! This cool but relatively dry air will lock in a dry and cool Saturday with early sun fading behind increasing clouds. Rains will arrive in Southwestern New England Saturday evening and will spread northeast Saturday night. This sets most of New England up for a wet and raw Sunday with an active east wind around a storm center moving just south of our area."

On a sidenote, someone on the board knew him in high school (Bagr?). If they are still in contact with him, maybe a plug/request for the "Noyes Tuckerman Forecast" for weekends in April and May?

Ayup, Matt's a good friend of mine from high school. He's a fellow skier and outdoorsman, actually -- I'll drop him a line and see what we can get.

I second the Matt Noyes forecast. He's a good guy, friend of a friend. He's got a genuine passion for the weather.
