View Full Version : SaxMan: Airplane question
Hey Saxman:
If you ever choose a weekend to fly around the bowl in that plane of yours, let me know. I'd love to come with, and provice media-capturing services. I've got lots of cameras. I've also got my ticket so I can fly the plane if you need a break etc... or help with navigation. I've got a GPS which works great for aviation. I'm about 15 min from both MHT and ASH.
BTW: Lunch rocks = W71°17'44",N44°15'43"

Funny you should bring it up. Just left the plane (1946 Taylorcraft BC12D) at Luckeys Landing outside of Bangor last Friday to have FLOATS! installed. Will be flying off the H2O the rest of the summer. I am going up to Luckeys Sunday for the week (may do last trip to the bowl Sat), to get a seaplane sign off in my log book. We could still fly down the ravine floats or no. Sitting on my perch I often wonder how close (elevation) to the lip and down the ravine I would be willing to take it. It will be a couple of weeks. It would have to be calm, but it WOULD be quite a ride. /sm
p.s. I think we could shave a couple of seconds off Tony Matts time.....

One time when I was on the summit a couple of Armed Forces jets did a fly-by. I think they're called Warthog Tankbusters...does that sound right? They were way below the summit elevation.
It was unreal.
:disinfo: "That is not possible!"
Sax: Congrats on the floats, way to step-up.
I saw a group of a-10's buzz the ravine. It was kewl watching them fly in the valley after zipping over the headwall (headed west).
An a-10 looks like this: http://www.weirdtable.org/~m/aviation/Heritage2000/DCP_1670.JPG
