Question that illuminates my newbie status: can the originator of a New Topic remove the entire thread (by removing his or her initial post or otherwise)? If so, that's a lot of power given to the thread originator -- effectively the power to delete the posts of others; I'd suggest that only moderators have the ability to nuke a thread, if that's not already the case. Not sure about that Octo... its quite possible, must be possible since neither M@ nor I have deleted any threads... in fact I don't think any threads have ever been deleted. The max I will do is replace the odd questionable word, phrase or abbreviation to keep our PG rating.. I'm not even sure what that thread was about. It appears from what's gone on here this AM that the originator of a thread can, by deletion of the original post, thereby delete the entire thread. This gives the thread originator editorial control over others' posts -- in the case of the 9/11 thread, some 80 posts were deleted in addition to the originator's original post.
FWIW, I'd suggest that the board be "fixed" to permit a non-moderator or non-administrator to delete or edit ONLY his or her own posts.
