Although probly not new technology, I am confused on how they work.

If they run off of LP then im assuming they create CO Carbon Monoxide

So how is that possible to be alive in the morning?

Sorry if I'm being stupid, but I simply do not know how these little buggers work.

lots of monoxide and some CO2...if the vents are not blocked most modern tents (VE among them) are set up for good ventilation. I heat my Mountain25 with a single candle lantern with the accessory reflector. It could be 0 outside and 40 degrees inside with the lantern and two people....closer to 25 with only me.

Heated tents have less problems with condensation, but the weight man, what's it gonna cost?

I use one but only for short bursts.... you saw in M@'s TR of the one I use. Yes they spew out CO but given the vents I have it works well when I need to change clothing or to get out of my sleeping bag. I would not recommend it if you don't have roof or ceiling vents that can be opened/closed. In mine I leave a little opening in the door near the bottom and the vent on the top open. This way it circulates the air better and less chances of asphyxiation.

In the evening just prior to crawling into my bag, I'll fire it up and take care of misc things and when it's reasonably comfortable, shut it down, shed clothing and crawl into the bag. I can sit up and read for a couple hours this way. And then in the morning I fire it up again before leaving the bag and do the same in reverse. When I finally got out of my tent at Barnes feild, the peak of my tent was at 71F and the floor was around 48F.... i was camping on ice.

Remember... open flames are NOT recommended in tents! Most, if not all tents are flammable and melt easily. This one has a tip feature that it shuts down if knocked over. Exposed candles are the worst for causing tent fires.... usually when the tenter falls asleep and it gets knocked over. Melted plastic on flesh is very uncomfortable. http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

It is a heavy luxury to carry.... you decide whether it's worth the hassle. I know my previous girlfriends loved it and were willing to camp more often because of it.... the other issue for them was heeding nature's call in the wild which could fill a whole other thread.

I always hang my candle lantern, safer and also spreads out more light.
