That's two weeks from now. A lot can change in two weeks.

Tell your friend to suck it up and carry his gear, its not a long hike anyways. If he needs a sled he is prob taking up too much crap he doesn't need. The bigger the container the greater desire to fill it with gear that you won't need or use.

a case of Bud ain't worth all that effort anyway!

Hey if he wants to carry it I'll drink it...even if it is bud. Beer in the ravine is beer in the ravine. It's not worth my effort, but it sure as hell is worth his effort, as long as he's sharing.

The Meatheads hauled one or more sleds up to Hermit Lakes in Epoch. Struck me as odd -- why not just hump it on your back? It's only a few miles...

I'm a devoted pulk-puller, but TR Trail is one place I wouldn't do it. Pulks work best where downhill skis work worst.

That said, there's nothing wrong with dragging your pulk over rocks and mud, especially if it's well built. We do it all the time.

Ya, well hes a wuss ! haha

His pack is too small, and hes too cheap to buy a pack suitable for this trip.

Maybe he'll just bunjie the stuff to his pack.

And I want to enjoy whats left of the sherby too, and not worrying about his sled on the way down, so Im going to tell him to suck it up.

Unless hes haulin a keg up there for everyone.

Once the beer's gone, the Big Boys will strap the sled to their pack. Otherwise, you can drag it over dirt/mud, but it makes it kind of hard to ski.

How vain. I though you were talking about me...

Pack it, don't pull it. You can always cut down on weight by going with "Light Beer"

what we really need in the world of outdoor beers is a local brew to go concentrate, seriously just add water for regular, extra for llight

but on a more serious note, when hiking up a moutain it's the mountain you're hiking against and beleive me, it's got everything it can working against you, why let the mountain choose the path you walk up?

pack it, if he's fit tell him to ski down with an empty pack and hike back up with skis and brew!

1. The 31st won't be a full moon - closer to a NEW (i.e. NO) moon... I'll look it up...here: waxing crescent with 7% of the Moon's visible disk illuminated - i.e. not much moonlight at all.

2. PWDR8S dragged a sled up to GOS on friday, and he wasn't happy about the trail conditions. TO get more specific ask him, but I think he indicated he wished he'd just packed it.

3. Don't let any of all this data talk you buddy out of going, just reconsider the sled. I've never drug a sled so I dunno. There's still a TON of snow in the ravine, should be a fun spring.

4. Be safe - check avy stuff, there were slides yesterday.

 about the full moon, must of looked at the calander wrong. Owell we have headlamps so it isnt mandatory, but would of been nice.

My bud is just going to have to get creative with bunjies and his sleeping bag, cuase his pack wont hold his bag.

Im going to end up carrying most of the weight, as I have the larger pack, and most of the outdoor winter gear. I might hand out some tent poles and stuff to others.

As for the sled, its becomming less apealing , and pretty much as been ruled out.

Cant wait to go, hope the sherby is in desent condition for the ski down.

M@1> Yes, New moon on the 29th... the last full moon was the 14th hence my going up to GOS when I did... it was magical.... or was that fatigue playin' tricks on my mind?

2> Yes, I wish I had packed it up, BUT I had the intention of doing 2-3 nights up there so extra food, etc was needed. The slide down with the sled was 'interesting' as the chinese would say.

3> Yes, make your own decision, I've seen haulers taking sleds up the Tuckerman Trail before...over rocks, etc..... Just don't add too much junk either way. Be minimalists! http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif Sleds CAN be fun in the bowl... just don't start too high or else.

4> Yes, absolutley YES.

I might even head up that weekend too. Pack only this time! http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
