BCSKIER

Now that the white stuff has arrived I am so anxious to see the conditions of the presis, everyday!!! I need some new pics. Not the observatory, long distance stuff, but some upclose and detailed photography. I was just up there late in November, but on the west side. That was a sketchy hike to say the least. Full ice coverage on the ammy above the stream crossing at the top of the falls. It was all ice the entire way to the hut (about .5 miles). A fall would have resulted in hundreds of feet of sliding/bouncing until you hit a tree. This was a great test for me to trust my crampons. It was nothing like the soft corn of the spring, what a luxury (never thought I'd say that). Unfortunately, the summit was dry, but it was deserted which was pleasant. The conditions are wayyy different up there now. I am planning a presis traverse (Madison to Jackson) between x-mas and NYE, but I'm afraid I won't get a glimpse into the bowl. Someone must be hiking and skiing the sherburne, right??? I need some pics!!!
