Just wanna say great site...I'll be a first timer this year, very excited and found all the info I could need here. I'm trying to plan a day to come up with my buddy and was wondering will this be the last weekend that you'll be able to hike to the top of the ravine and drop in from the lip up there? I'm still going to go regardless and I understand the weather is totally unpredictable, but how thin is the cover way up there? We might not be able to make it up there until the second weekend in may...also how empty is it on a monday or any weekday? Any help would be much appreciated...thanks!!
This weekend is looking fantastic right now. Like some other posts say, there is snow enough to ski into June some years. I'd say Mid-May is gonna be just fine. You might not be able to ski over the lip, but the left gulley and/or hourglass might still be great.

My buddy and I were up there a few weeks ago, and he referred to the "hour glass". Some guy overheard us talking and corrected him that it is actually called "the bottleneck". Any idea who is right?
BTW, that same buddy of mine is heading back up this weekend, but I can't go. I am bummin'. Hopefully next weekend is a go for me, pray for 55 degrees and blue, BLUE skies!!!!!!!!
Have fun this weekend!!!

I'm heading up for tuesday thru thursday. Weekdays are great! Not as many people so its more of a chill seen and getting a place to stay is a lot easier! I'm praying for just weather that will allow us to ride, weather looks iffy. But you never know untillyou get there!
Peace chuck

I'm with M@, mostly because I can't go again until at least the 26th and I prefer to believe that it will still be great...

I usually shoot for the first weekend in may and fine tune based on weather. I have always been able to ski left gully and chute from the top and these last few years have been low snow. Look at pictures from pre1995 and the bowl looks mid winter in mid may. too bad global warming... anyway the last good weekend skiing wise is usually the 1st or 2nd wekeend in may. after that the runouts start to shrink and the headwall/lip are undo-able. left gully is usually the last to go. The weather forecast looks wet & cold thru next weekend (<50) so I am still shooting for may 3rd. Hopefully it will warm up.
