At 9h49PM, at the summit, it's 33,3F and just 17, with the wind chill !!!!!!!!!

Sure is chilly outside in Ottawa! I can well imagine a VERY cold night up on the summit of Washington to the south.
Hey Franko with your new Avatar, your looking ready for summer more than winter! :p

Report of the meteorologist at the top this morning :
05:35 AM Sun Aug 24, 2003 EDT
The weather has quickly taken on a winter-like feel on the summit. Temperatures tonight plummeted well below freezing tonight with high winds, with a peak gust of 76 mph. And we went into the fog during the night as well, which of course, meant rime and deicing the instruments. And we also broke the record low temperature for the 23rd. Temperatures got down to 24F, beating the old record of 26F set in 1971.
This morning, it's 26,6 degrees, with winds of 71mph and gusts of 82mph. Feeling like 6 degrees !!! The Observation deck is not white, but completely frozen. I kept the pic if someone want to see it !?
woooohoooo
THINK SNOW !!
Frankontour

9h30 : The temp is still at 26
but the clouds are well present on the top
and there is some white stuff on the deck........... :snowflakes: ?
Too fast to say it is effectively snow, but it looks like that. I should know this on the next cam shot, near 9h45.
For the "1st snow contest", I think it's more some snow in the ravine, than some dusting on top, for the end of the contest ;) (I wouldn't possibly say this now if I had chosen Aug 25 or so, for 1st snow ;)

Nope... the cloud is gone, without let other :snowflakes: on the ground :( A sure thing, it's quite frozen actually there !

Gotta love the rime ice. Even a frost can make the deck look wintry. Here's a pic (http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/users/ec717838/bc/Skiing/__hr_frost+7-24-02.jpg?bfVrPS_AWBK4FOpb) from july 24th, last summer.

I can't see the pic, Gwest. If it's from Yahoo, be sure you sent it via the "guest accounts" and not your "own account".
Here is 2 pics of this morning, august 24, 2003.
1 : showing the ice on the deck + a little bit of white
frozen deck (http://cf.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/frankontour502/vwp?.dir=/Mes+photos&.dnm=frozen+deck.jpg&.view=t)
2: no ice remaining, but it looks like the wind put all the "snow" on the far side of the deck. Look the little white patches of :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes: :snowflakes:
Snow at the very far side (http://cf.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/frankontour502/vwp?.dir=/Mes+photos&.dnm=ice+on+deck.jpg&.view=t)

I love the smell of a woodstove - I went for a run before work this morning, and could smell one. It definitely put a smile on my face.

Kmrnskier : in the other thread, you talked about if someone saw just a bit of snow, to post it. Did you see the 2nd link above. It shows some snow on the summit deck, this morning (sunday).

It went down to 36 here last night. The air smelled like winter. It's nice to sleep with blankets on again.
