I'm thinking to head up to Jay from Boston on friday a.m., stay one night and ride two days, return in time for New Years festivities. Seeking like-minded compadres. It appears that Jay has the goods!

Hey Steve,
I'll be up there from Dec 26-31. Half days skiing with the kids, half on my own. I'm also planning a few night runs on Big Jay by HID headlamp if there is enough snow.

Do you hang with the kiddos in the morning or go for freshies first?
That Big Jay run sounds interesting; I've wanted to try those east chutes for a while now...I presume you are planning to skin up to earn those turns...have you tried the night/headlight gig before in the bc?

Well if Jay has the goods on the 29th it would be fun to ride together and meet up with Skiyak too. By TMC tradition I would owe you a decent beer after the descents:

Look, he's already "shlourling" his words at just the sight of the mighty Tram Ale - cut him off! cut him off! Cheap dates unite!
On a serious note (and in my dreams), I'm already drooling at the possibility that the Face Chutes may be filled in for New Years and Big Jay too. Let it be so, LET IT BE SO!

Super! In exchange for the pleasure of the company of other TMCers, would you be willing to impart knowledge of present stashes? I've been at Jay enough to know that I don't know Jay.

No definite plans yet, but I can probably go in the morning if that works best.
Planning in skinning up through the area to get to Big Jay. It didn't have enough snow when was there last year, so I haven't been yet, but I've done other (above treeline) BC skiing at night. Not that much different than doing a 24 hour MTB race. You only have to be careful about low hanging branches which are above the beam of your headamp. I've dismounted my bike that way a few times.

Jay sucks.
Stashes are everywhere, almost all trees are skeable.

booked in for two nights (28th and 29th) at the North Troy Inn 802 988 2527. It is a pseudo-dorm/B+B thing that is like 30 USD a night with breakfast. The old codger that owns and runs it is a hoot. Was a helicopter test pilot type guy. To say North Troy is sleepy is an understatement tho the legion or VFW or whatever used to take canadian cash at par :D
If you do call be patient....he don't write so fast anymore you also may have to yell a little on the phone so he can hear you.
Oh I hate Jay I am only going there cuz I hate sugarbush more....stupid glades for jerks.....

Would probaby need to spot a car at night; not many peeps to hitch a ride from on that road at odd hours. I've picked up hitchhikers in the morning who were doing Big J as a circuit using the Stateside chair; that seemed like a nice way to go. I would be inclined to do daytime as a first choice 'cause I've never been in those chutes and I'm not sure if my headlight has the candelas. What model do you use?

Think I'll give the man a call. Yes, the glades do suk, 'cause animals poop and pee in the woods. I'll PM when I make headway.

Yep, a daytime run first would be a good idea. Lets wait and see if there's enough snow before making plans. I've PMd you my cell phone to facilitate meeting up.
