Looking for input on something here:
One of our MANY hobbies is geocaching. It's basicaly treasure hunting, similar to something called letter boxing. The website explains it all: http://www.geocaching.com
Basically: You post the co-ordinates for a box of cheap little toys. You go find it, and take a toy and leave a toy. Most of them have a disposable camera to take a picture.
We've hidden one treasure ourselves, and found about 14.
Here's two caches we found this weekend
#1 Virtual Cache (No treasure, just take a picture to prove you made it) (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cachelog_details.asp?ID=306975&L=1989220)
#2 Regular Cache (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cachelog_details.asp?ID=306990&L=1986740)
I'm thinking Tuckerman would be an EXCELLENT spot to hide one of these. So I'm looking for ideas from those of you whome have been there. I need an out of the way spot, where the GeoCachers could find the treasure. It should be off a trail so it is not discovered accidentaly, but not such that getting to it would damage delicate plantlife or anything like that.
Some caches involve finding seveal different co-ordinates or find a sign and using clues on the sign to generate the co-ordinates of the final treasure.
So what do you folks think would be kewl? A virtual cache, like "Take your Picture with the ravine in the backround and your GPS in your hand" or a traditional cache with a box hidden somewhere ,like "20 paces behind the First Aid Box at the base of Hillman's." Or something like, "In the Hojo cabin is a list of people who died in the area, take the 10th person's age and the 15th persons age and use them to calculate the final position...."
Whatever it is, we should all take/place something when we go up this/next year.
