This is amazing. I'm still not fully recovered.

I went up to Cannon today, and had what was (with about 5 colorado & 1 Utah trip under my belt) quite literally THE BEST SKI DAY I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!

Cannon had 24-ish inches when I got there about 8:45. Snowing HEAVILY. The Peabody quad was running, and some little lift. Trails: 6. Lifts: 2.

Immediately we began ducking ropes, and heading over to the Zoomer side. Was the 8th track down Avalanche!!!!!!!!!! 8th track on a wide, steep trail in more than 2 feet of beautiful fresh. Simply amazing. Mere words can't convey that.

The best part? Zoomer lift was closed, so there was a short hike back to the quad, and that kept most of the skiers there off the Front Five. I just did laps on the Front Five all day long, logging something like 15 total....

15 runs down Cannon's Front Five, all blanketed in 24-32+ (by the end of the day) of Fresh Powder. Light Powder. Beautiful Powder. Very few other people there. Fresh, untracked snow every run.

This is the first time that I've actually had to time my breathing so that I breath out when I drop my knee in the turn. I learned that lesson pretty fast ;) . Face Shots constantly. On the backside of a few steep knolls on the trail, I couldn't see anything except snow on my goggles for a second or two.

Temps were great, hovering around 20 all day, snowing all day, no wind, and the Front Five weren't even windswept!!!

WOW

(and yes, I am excited!!!!)

Sounds like skimum will have a great day out at kmart if she can figure out how to move around in the pow. Here in PA we don't get much of it.

Anyway sounds a lot better then my day.

You're all so lucky down east. Nothing here, nada, zilch.

I was at Cannon both days for instructor training, and I eyed all of that closed territory (and all those poaching it) jealously. We were told that the first time we were cought out of bounds we would be out of the program, so I was a good girl.
:(

Hey BG, are you going to teach on blades? I'm really enjoying the SB10s so far this year. Riding them is definitely a strong balance drill! ("You have no tail. You have no tail.
You still have no tail.")

Cannon used to be my local pick before I moved to Vacationland.

Just back. I totally agree with the comments above. It was total :skiplow: (until the rain came and washed it away). Hope you guys get a ton more :snowflakes: with the storm today.

Four short days of :atwork: , then the skidude and I launch off to the fingerlake region for the next excursion.

Life is good ... :skiplow:

Hey BG, are you going to teach on blades?
I asked management about that because I am going to be teaching 3-5 year olds (in the Junior developemnt program where I will get the same kids every week). I argued that: 1. The blades will be the same length as their skis, making it easier for them to see and do what I do, and 2: It will be easier for me to maneuver around them with the blades. End result: I got the OK to teach kids in blades.

Where do you like to ski in Vacationland?
