Mine was May 1st 2001. It actually started the night before when we arived at Mexi's with my buddy Denis and his girlfriend. She had to take off for an hour, so Denis and I both started pounding back Marg's after about 6 or so at the bar and me just getting back for a Sugarloaf/River trip. I was talking about how great the skiing was. Denis said we should go skiing tomorrow. This sounded like a great idea. "There's free skiing at Sunday River tomorrow." Denis (who had worked for Killington for winter) said I've skied ASC crap all year if I'm gonna drive for 6 hours to go skiing, lets drive another 1/2 hour and hit tucks. Just then Denis's girlfriend pops back in and we're probably 8 margs deep. And Denis turns to her and says we're going to tucks. Denis's girlfirend drops me off so I can get a couple hours sleep to sober up. Denis picks me up at 2, we hit the road, no problems at the border. Drive by Someday Bigger and their free lift tickets. We hike to the bowl, kick back and for a few minutes on the left side. Gear up and hike straight up the chute to the top. (That flat rock at steep part does suck) We continued up until we ran out of snow found a rock and just kicked back chewing seeds and watching the world go by. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and you could see for miles. A perfect postcard day. After an hour or so we decided we were running late. We had tickets to a Chixdiggit concert back home. We sessioned the chute creating some pretty big sluff, but we were carefree and just jumped back and forth over the runnels. Stopped at our rock threw on our backpacks. We had a small hike from the bowl to the first aid cache and then threw our skis back on, hit the little headwall and continued down the Sherburn to the last cut off. After a quick hike down to the car, we picked up some stickers and I bought the famous endless summer shirt. And hit the road. We stopped at the Communist Irving in Bethel to get some gas (sorry if I've offended anyone, but it's the only place I know that you have to pay for gas before you pump it). Some guys there asked us how the River was and we just laughed and said we were at tucks to which they replyed "where is that". We continued to laugh the rest of drive home. We just drove 13 hours for 1 run and were only an hour late for the concert. It was probably my favorite ski day ever.
So this was my fav. day, what's yours???
It's tough to nail down a favorite moment...
But I can tell you I really dig looking at someone who's never been before look on their face when they first see the bowl from up close...
priceless..
Watching my 11 year old throw some freeheeling turns coming out of left gully and swing across to hit the snowboarders kicker for some flight time.....

First time at Tucks, April 1981. We were hanging at a  party Saturday night UNH, and a local boy, Steve Akerman from Dover says to me, "HeyBC let's do Tuckermans tomorrow". Totally unprepared (just 22 and didn't mind dieing), we loaded up his old Volvo and my 67 VW squareback (eight guys) and made the drive arriving in the Pinkham parking lot around 8 AM. It was a bluebird day, and we made the hike. I was in awe when I saw Hillman's and asked Ackie if that is what we were there for. The answer was "No, we're going to the bowl." We arrived in the bowl, and set up at lunch rocks. We skied the snowfields and the Lip once and took a few runs on the Sluice. We met some great people, had a great day and nobody got hurt.

Early April, a week day a few years ago. I was solo. It wasn't sunny, but good visibility, and the thermal gain was enough to soften just an inch or so of the surface. The snow was smooth, due to the early season and a recent storm.
I climbed up the lip on my way to the snowfields to ski down to center headwall. I picked out a few navigation points climbing.
Big GS rippers on the snowfields and then a perfect 55+ degree, Oh my God, this is amazing, line in the center of the bowl with the slope falling away every turn. The blind entrance, and rollover combined with the steepness of the center headwall ,makes that the most intimidating run for me. And in this case to hit it with perfect snow makes it my favorite.
Now when my 6 year old finally makes it with me I can have a new favortite!

i have had many great moments. some of which were asking myself what i was thinking, ice, wind and rain makes for a scary day up at tucks! i can remember my first acent of the head wall. it was miserable up there and i was only nine years old and not that advanced of a skier. i started up the headwall with my uncle who did posess the skills needed to make some big turns, but it was a little bumped up and very unforgiving :skierscared: :tucks: :raining: i was scared out of my mind, but faced my fears and overcame my obstical! :D back then i was :jumpturn: and my favorit part of that day was sherburn trail to the parking lot...slept the whole way home, went back next year :happyhiker: to :sun: :tucks: :sun:
