I believe the hermit lake shelters are like $9 a person a night. You gotta hike 2 hours to get there though.

Try the New Hampshire lodging page on SkiCentral... http://skicentral.com/newhampshire1.html . Anything around Gorham, North Conway or Attitash are close.

Isn't it possible to camp at the lodge thing below the bottom of the bowl? Is that what they call Ho-Jo's? I'm sure it would be rough in the winter, but come spring it shouldn't be bad.

You can either hike up to Hermit Shelters, a three mile trek up 1800 vert with your gear. Or you can stay at the trailhead at Pinkham Lodge, bunk style. Then there is the hotels and motels in North Conway, pretty cheap because it's off season. Hermit Shelters are first come first serve, you have to get a permit at Pinkham lodge before you hike up. They fill up quick on weekends, especially in spring. If good weather if forcasted, Pinkham fills up very quick too(2-3 weeks in advance sometimes in peak spring conditions). North Conway is your safest cheap bet, that's what I did last year. Three guys in a room for $40, not bad. Just look around on the NH websites, hotels are everywhere. Good luck and bring the sunscreen!
