Anyone out there riding the Garmont G Ride? I've read a decent amout about this boot and think is sounds like it would work well for my stile of skiing .. not my 1st choice but found them on line at www.backcountryoutlet.com for $350. Sounds like a GREAT deal and I actually have a few extra bucks kicking around right now. PS Back Country Outlet is having other great sales if no one has brough it up yet. Haven't been on the board much lately but i've been dreaming about skiing and once i move .. i'll be back more often. I'm seeing some decent deals .. nothing i saw made me buy yet .. but i'm thinking and where there is smoke ....

I picked up a pair of Mega Rides for $409 earlier in June... Love 'em! Got my last tracks in June and July in them! Didn't opt for G ride because of my style (I ain't got no style! http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

I'm on G-rides. I use them exclusively (although I'm considering getting some work done on my alpine boots to make them more comfortable on my spreading feet and to allow me to put my old alpine-mounted carving skis to use again). The GRides are definitely softer, but I think they are helping my skiing by making me ski more balanced, instead on relying on muscling the skis around with the stiffer alpine boots.

They're not comparable to an alpine-style Adrenalin or Tornado and aren't even as stiff as a Denali, but they do tour and ski great. I don't feel like I'm really giving anything up with them, although a better skier might be. Bear in mind that I'm not touring PNW volanoes with these, and after a day of chasing JShefftz and his Dynafit & F1s around on a multi-ravine tour, I could reassess the touring capabilities, but the difference would be more related to bindings than boots, I suspect.

Make no doubt about it. In today's AT market, it's a compromise boot, but I think it's a winning compromise (enough so that I haven't bothered spending the $50 to doctor up my alpine boots) for my days of bashing chutes and bumps at MRG.
