It is a good question. When does the season officially end. I think we've danced around this one a few times.

How about a poll! Yeah, great idea. Hit this thread with the suggested options and I'll put one together.

We talked of this a lot, before... and people looked to be 50/50 for august or labor day (with Timberline's closure) for the end of a ski season.

Now that we pass both, I think we're in the 2003-04 season, for the ones who can ski out west actually. And don't you worry DMC. It will come soon for us. I hope to make my first turns in mid/late october.

I'll chime in for Labor Day as the start of the next season. September is a near impossible month to get turns in the East (August is doable in a good Tucks year if you're nuts). September can even be rough in the West, where you've got to deal with glacial conditions (monster sun cups, penitentes, glacial ice, rockfall, etc.) October and July are sure bets pretty much anywhere.

I'd say at this point we're in to '03-'04. Still checking the corn behind the house for the first white stuff....

My mind always sees a calender year as sept thru aug, maybe Im still fixated on school livin'. Same holds tru for the ski season. Sept is the first month - you never know when an early enabling storm might blow in. I remember either last year or two years ago and 1 footer dropping on jay peak in late sept. best believe there were tracks...
