I have noticed that the Observatory is offline.
We had 90 km/h winds here in Toronto that brought down lots of trees and powerlines. Could it be that the summit is getting blasted with wind and snow??? Or have they all come down the mountain for the T4T Boozefest tonight?

It must be they came down for the beer and ribs tonight.

I think the weather's getting pretty windy up there, alhtough I don't really know what's up.
It looks like lots more :snowflakes: up there this weekend though!

I think we need to recruit one of the observatory folks into the ranks of the TFT - thusly getting the scoop up top with ease....
Everyone keep doin the :snowflakes: dance!!!!!

You can still check out the pic from Conway:

Looking pretty white up there. Today's observatory report says 1.5" of new snow, with high winds (sustained in the 70s for several hours; Wednesday peak gust of 125 mph). Sounds like conditions that could start loading the ravines with :snowflakes: .
Checking out the staff page (http://www.mountwashington.org/observatory/staff/staff.html), looks like Andy Wall might be a good recruit (ski patrol experience in UT) -- but he works in Bartlett. Believe it or not, the only other staffer who mentions skiing in their bios is Melody Nester, who is the marketing manager of The Weather Notebook. Maybe we need to plant a :tmc: member atop the rock. The summit building closes on 10/19; after that, our infiltration team can move in.

Although the summit building "closes" 10/19, that means closed to the public. The OBS crew remains, of course, barring another generator fire and loss of heat & power.
This winter, NH State Parks will also be manning the summit with a rotating crew of one, to maintain those new generators.
We need to get a bunch of people to drive up there and stand on the deck and point towards tux sometime.
On that topic: We need something to do that will show up in the webcam when people go on trips so all of us :office jockies: can see that you are there through the webcam. Like a roll of tin foil and spell out T4T or something. Maybe everyone lie in the middle of the bowl and spell out T4T
