Good morning from the Mount Washington Observatory! It is a white Day-After-Yom Kippur on the top of the Rockpile (were not going to wait around until Christmas up here, folks)! The map models are in somewhat of a disagreement with the forecast this morning. We are getting this lovely snow from a secondary low pressure center that has formed on the down-east Maine coastline and is spinning us some fresh ocean and Candian cooled soggy air. Another strong high pressure (like so many we have seen this summer) is parked right over central Canada and threatening to bring us more beautiful sunshine as well as more dry heat as it moves closer. However, due to a strong upper level low pressure sitting over Pennsylvania this morning (primary low pressure center location), we are watching a weak omega block over the US bread basket slow the movement of systems. Depending on the actual strength of this block and the drift of the system eastwards, we may see high pressure and clear skies move right through making for a beautiful sunny weekend, or we may see clouds with a chance of showers stick around New England through tomorrow. Stay tuned...
