Yet another tuckerman story from M@:

Was hiking up the chute one fine afternoon, in a long line of people, many in front and behind. The two fine young ladies in front of me were talking in french. We were hiking up in the chute, and I asked, "Do you speak English too?"
They said, "yes,"
So I asked, "How do you say STEEP?"
And she said, "Epic."

Dave/Others: Care to confirm/explain that? I thought it was kewl.

M@,

Its actually "a pic". It means abrupt or steep. (There's an accent on the "a" that I can't type here.)
The literal translation is "to peak".
