I'm putting this feeler out to see if there would be enough of us to do a decent T4T hut to hut trip in Colorado next ski season. I was thinking possible late March or early April for a week.
I'm putting this out here now because the cheapest airfares to CO are usually found in June-August for the next winter. I have usually found them for about $165 - $220 from Boston/Manchester to Denver
Because this will be my 'winter' vacation next year, I'm willing to do the legwork/research. I won't be adding any markup or whatever. This is for the good fun with friends! http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I might ask for a beer or two though.
Let me know if any of you would be interested. Give suggested dates and lengths of time(days out on the trails). If you know the areas, any suggestions as to where you'ld like to explore.
Thanks RR for getting me motivated on this. It's been percolating in my head for many many moons.

I'm in ($$'s permitting). I think a 14 day stay with 6 or 7 nights hutting would be great. A few days 'resort' skiing to warm up and a few days warm down (hot tubbing)

Mmmmmmmm... hot tub! Dunno if I'll have the pad... Have to check the family calendar. We're getting a new hot tub there too! Might be worth going when we can get the place on the return. Hmmmmmmm..... got the rusty gears in me head cranking now!
Oh yeah, I want to make this trip as cheap as possible.
Me not mind cheap....me like best beer!
Me not mind fly like cattle....me like freeski!
Me not mind heating by woodstove or hauling water...must have vert to restore sanity!

This sounds like it would be a sweet trip if it comes to be. I know that I'm new here but how open would this be to newbe's? (i.e. not in the clique)
ps. If you are going to do a hut to hut or just pick a hut and ski out of it for week at elevation a day or two for adjustment to the elevation is recomended. Good info on CO huts at Lou Dawson's website (www.wildsnow.com)

I'll be doing a head count in a while..... You'll likely be sliding with some of us before the trip(hopefully)..... Since those inclined to venture on journeys like this tend to be of like mind, I don 't see it being a problem of you possibly joining us. Have you any B/C experience, AVY training? The more the better. Gear issues will be discussed later.
I know Lou's site.... the good folks there have been helpful in getting me beta. Thanks

I'm hoping to take any AVY class at somepoint next season. My B/C experiance is little but I'm working at adding to it.
I appreciate your openness to accept an outsider...Thanks! I have been watching this sight for some time now and still being pretty "wet behind the ears" to posting in forums, this seems to be an overall friendly site and open new comers to the T4T experiance, but I digress.
I may be able to participate in this adventure. I defenitly have an interest in it. R/
I think I'd rather do a British Columbia thing personally..
It's lower altitude...
But - whatever - If my friend gets a job patrolling at Solitude... thats where I'm going next year... If that doesnt happen - I NEED to get back to Kicking Horse..
Who knows...

Wellllllll..... as a 'newbie', you may just have to carry ALL our beer and then some! http://www.timefortuckerman.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif (Providing you're of legal age)
I have to advise that this adventure is not for the weak or novice(I'm talking never~ever B/C adventurers or powder skiing/riding). But a lot depends upon our itinerary. I'm sure you've learned much about type of gear and suggestions of what to bring/not to bring from T4T forums.
I have to stress that you should be in good physical shape so as to not slow down the group. I would anticipate our pace to be fairly moderate so we can lay down some fresh tracks on some virgin slopes... in other words...play! It IS why we're going in the first place.
This will be discussed more as time allows in the months to come.

Let me know if/when you go to Kicking Horse..... those pics looked awesome. Auugghhh!!!! Too many places to play and not enough time!
Before the inevitable cachet and yuppification take hold?? or after??
From what my friends said after being there last year..
It's still not "yuppified"...

Not yuppified at all and won't be for sometime. It's not exactly easy to get too. Tried to talk my friends into buying a run down trailer for $10,000 split 4 ways $2500. Mortgage that over 25 years and you got yourself some cheap and adventureous lodging.

As for being aclimatized, maybe to 5000-9000 ft, but I usually have a tough time above that. :skierfrown:

I'm a solid maybe. Haven't done my winter trip planning yet but I've been wanting to do a hut to hut vaca for a while now.
