Curious what recs you might have for cheapo lodging options near the general vicinity Mt Washington massif?
My interest is solely in motel rooms, not bunk rooms or camping (though that would certainly make a very helpful separate thread).

Here are a few recs from me, divided up into what I think are the three main lodging regions:

Twin Mountain
- Convenient for trips that start from the cog, Lowe's, or Appalachia, although kinda long to Pinkham. (Also convenient if you're coming up the night before from that general direction.)
- This place has very basic motel rooms that are kinda small yet relatively bright & cheery, very clean (plus cheap bunks too, but I don't know what they're like):

- I stayed once in the "Inn" part, where the room was very small, kinda oldish, but still okay (plus motel rooms, but I don't know what they're like):
http://www.zermattinn.com/
- I stayed in another motel around there once, and it was quite reasonable overall. My impression is that this area has lots of reasonably priced and reasonably decent motels.

Gorham
- Convenient for anything but the cog. But a bit long of a drive if coming up from Boston the night before for just one day of skiing.
- I've stayed here twice, and the rooms were very nice and fairly reasonably priced:

- I think this was previously a T4T sponsor:

- My impression is that this area has lots of fairly reasonably priced and very nice motels.

North Conway / Intervale / Jackson
- Convenient for anything but Lowe's or Appalachia. Best bet for coming up from Boston the night before and skiing out of Pinkham or the auto rd the next day.
- Problem is, my wife and I had a ski rental house in North Conway the last three years, so I have no idea where the cheap motels are!

Did some googling, and also find an old computer file from May 2001 before we had the ski rental house. Here are some cheapo possibilities:

if you want to stay on the laconia side theres the Profile Inn, its like 60bucks a night for 2 people so 30bucks each aint bad, and its very clean and nice.

But you got a drive ahead of you to the notch, about 30mins at least.

Stayed in the White Trellis Fri night - pretty good deal at only $40 for one person.
(Although my ski partner coming from Burlington paid $0 to camp...)
Room was nice, but small, although fine for one person (and would have been fine for two people for one night, though kinda small for two people for an entire weekend).
I also put together a spreadsheet of Mt Washington lodging options if anyone is interested.

Northern Peaks (http://www.northernwhitemtnchamber.org/peaks/) - In Gorham treated me right a few years ago. I think we paid somewhere around $35 for the night mid winter.

I've also stayed at the Blueberry Muffin in North Conway. You get free or discounted breakfast, plus right across the street from Rotten Rons which was perfect on the way home from the Bars.

I've stayed at the White Trellis. Its fine for cheap bucks.

One place I really liked was the Village Inn in Jackson. $80 for two people, jacuzzi tub, kitchenette, stumbling distance from the Wildcat Tavern.

The cranmore mountain lodge (not the inn) on kearsarge road. The bunkhouse is $25/night; this includes use of the hot tub and a rather sumtuous breakfast in the morning (sausages+french-toast/pancakes/+oj+coffee/tea+cereal). And the owners, Kevin and Jean are quite nice. Its a good place to meet other skirs/climbers/etc too.
